Agreed - you need some more deets on this restoration! Looks very good, BTW!

Great informative site. for my first post, here is a 76 Schwinn Suburban I just restored for my daughter to ride at college. wish I had a better before pic. There wasn't a piece of chrome on this bike that didn't sit in an OA bath.

I went the easy way and had it powder coated. The repro decals are from Cyclomondo. Let me know if there's anything else you're curious about.

No, the paint on the front fork was badly oxidized. i was claying it and the paint was rubbing off so i repainted it a cream white to match the "world sport" logo.

There are few things* on a bicycle that'll turn heads quicker than curly/vibrant stays.

* hot models excluded

Do you recall the RAL color code? It looks really good. Let us know how the outlining goes. But, for my money, it looks pretty classy as is.

They are cool-lookin'

The original reason, apparently, was to create both strength and flex in the rear triangle; but, for the most part, the Colonel is correct.

A lot of English bikes wound up doing this. Notably, the Bates bikes had a bunch of curly stays and forks.

A radially spoked rear wheel? How long will that last?

The rumor I heard about the Hetchins curly stays is that the British racing rules didn't allow decals for a while so Hetchins did that to make their bikes distinguishable.

I can try to find out. I got it done here, but it doesn't seem to be on the site. It was called "Fuller Black" if I remember correctly.
