Damn, you're copying me man. Quit that. ;) - do you remember my post a while back on my '85 1985 PH10LE?

Kommisar89 12-17-07 07:36 PM

Well, the '72 Bottecchia is pretty much "there" so I'll have to look at something else now - I'd like to build a replica of my old '74 Special but I don't have a bike or frame yet so maybe I'll practice on the UO-8.

Oh, and the Panasonic will get some major upgrades but I almost don't consider it "vintage". And I hate Japanese bikes (not really) ;)

My only real C&V related goal is to finally mount my chrome randonneur racks on my Univega and find a nice handlebar bag for it.

My biggest bicycle related goals are two, and here they are:

1. To use my truck even less than I do now, and ride instead. Doing so would basically make me car-free, because I rarely drive it now.

2. To try my hand at framebuilding. It's something I've wanted to do since I was 15. I should be moving into a house by Spring, and I'll be free to try things like that (and painting). I think about it all the time!

digitalbicycle 12-17-07 07:41 PM

1. I just need a few more paychecks to get the rest of the stuff I need for the Faggin build. 10 speed Ultegra/Dura Ace mix. Should be done by late winter/early spring.

2. I'm moving cross country next spring, and need to downsize. I've already donated a lot of stuff from the parts bin to the local bike coop, and I've got to sell of a few more bikes as well.

RobbieTunes 12-17-07 07:55 PM

'88 Centurion Dave Scott "Expert," building to tri with, Iron men on steel bikes.

Also, '87 Nishiki to turn into a whompin' commuter bike, ride to the pool and running group and back.
My aim is for a solid, nimble, 6 or 7 speed w/no front 'rail, short bars and custom paint. Hints?

John Howard frame project.
Pinarello Treviso project; moving along with Campy downtube shifter, Campy Italian BB, Record Crankset, painter lined up.

Need to find home for a Schwinn Collegiate women's 30-spd.

Probably repaint the orange and black Raleigh Ltd.-3.

What to do with the Paramount frame with the non-original fork?

John E 12-17-07 08:20 PM

Clean up and reassemble Capo #2, which has almost all of its original components.

Pedal more, wrench less, burn more calories--- if I could only stay away from the dump!

Nope, but look at it this way, I'm confirming that you have good taste in old Bikes :D

What he said!
I plan to clean some bikes up to sell in the spring. Mainly bikes that the kids outgrew or don't ride anymore. The past few years I have been spending too much time working on bikes and not riding them. Also, the wife has been after me to get some projects done around the house.

T-Mar 12-18-07 09:21 AM

1. Finish off at least one of the uncompleted projects from 2007, 2006, 2005, etc.
2. Spend less time on C&V to achieve the above.
3. Entice mega-rich Japanese buyers into an Ebay bidding frenzy for completed projects.

My #1 project for the year is building our new home. If that goes well & I find the parts I need, I will get the 88 Moto Grand Record built up. I will still need to find time to do regular maintenance & repair on all my other bikes and fit in a few good rides. Don

I think you are dreaming about spending less time on C & V!

My personal goal is to get the Woodrup frame into riding condition. If not this coming year, at least before I retire.

That will give me about ten years.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see want transpires.:D

SoreFeet 12-18-07 10:14 AM

I am going to powder coat my super sport. I am also going to take it to the great Ed Litton and have the alignment/headtube checked out. It was involved in a side impact with a car. The fork is gone but I have a NOS Columbus SP fork that needs to be cut down. I think I will be going to the 1 inch threadless system for the sake of simplicity.

My greatest fear is that the headtube was ovalized on the impact.

I will also be building my first few sets of wheels. It seems foolish to leave a NOS set of Campy hubs on the shelf. I am debating to use tubulars for classic appeal or go modern clincher. Since I have NOS tubular rims I will probably use those.

I'll be riding with a derailleur again in the new year. My fixie just couldn't keep up with the pack on the last group ride. Oddly enough with a 52/17 I climbed faster than anybody else but nearly died after the 30 mile mark.

I think this would make for a great epic movie plot.

1. Decals & period correct dérailleur for my '72 Chrome Paramount.
2. Do something with the Trek 710 frame painted by Dr.D. Currently disassembled. Maybe a total vintage campy build?
3.Get to ride more with other people and be social. Right now most of my riding is done via commuting to and from work.

SSRI 12-18-07 11:05 AM

Like a lot of members here more riding and less wrenching.
winter / 08 projects includes but not limited to

a 95 litespeed ultimate to be built with shimano ultegra 600 8 speed (debating downtube, bar end or downtube shifter set up ) i have set of easton circuits that i am think about pairing with this project.

a 05 giant ocr c1 that is still in the box let see if i can take off my ultegra 10's on my firenze and put them on the giant.

06 vortex standard gemotery bought on an impulse buy. have been collecting d/a 10s lets see if this gets of the ground.

once the firenze is stripped thinking about converting it to a single speed.

ebay off some old frames i have laying around.
a late 80 battaglin, mid 80 atala, early 90 dale 3.0 crit frame, and a vitus 979.

I wish it was "only" 3 years. We're one month short of 3.5.

dbakl 12-18-07 11:27 AM

Ah... finish the Carlton, get the other Carlton painted, finish the Frejus, rebuild the Arbos, other frames/bikes waiting: 2 Allegros, 2 Raysports, 3 Legnanos, a Cilo, and the Paramount track...

Sell some stuff that doesn't fit or I really don't need!

buddyp 12-18-07 12:14 PM

1st project - convert the bianchi to a fixed gear. No, I am not going to cut anything off :)

2nd project - replace the cracked rim on the derosa. Also replace the bar tape, brake hoods and switch to a 120mm stem. I hope that once I get that done I will ride it more than I did last year. I just feel so scrunched up on it now compared to my OT bike

3rd - swap the truvativ crank on the OT bike for a campy one. The black chrome plating on the truvative chainrings is flaking off :(

stringbreaker 12-18-07 12:15 PM

Go back and sanitize some things I don't like about the Continental build. Different chain, work on the chainline bugs just a few little things that have cropped up that I'm not real happy with. Oh yeah and like I said finish the Volare, ride more and do the ride from White river entrance to Sunrise with my buddy from work

All right, we'll change that 3 years to 4 years and hope it's done in six months. It's almost like waiting for an accident to happen, isn't it?

Do you ever go over there just stare at your bike? Or sigh loudly...:p ? I think I remember a recent thread in the Road Cycling forum where you said he was about 98% done...
