I have had a great time picking up old GT's here in So Cal for next to nothing......the 2 pictured I got for $20 each. They were both really dirty but a blast to tear em down, regrease/lube everything, new cables/chain and buff out frame/fork. They clean up nice and the old Deore DX/XT components are solid.

I'll join in this resurrected thread and introduce my newly acquired Karakoram in Inferno paintjob. $20 yesterday. This will most likely be a keeper after all the info I've gathered and also the right size for me.
Can't wait to start working on it.

that's an incredible price to get a super bike. +1 to being the right size too. Was this a yard sale, church sale or CL find?

I wish to find mine a true GT leather saddle but might have to settle for a close- to leather model with rivets.

This lady was moving and clearing out her garage. Posted on CL that she was selling 3 bikes. She posted this as a Honda (lol) but I recognized it right away and jumped on it. She was asking $90 for all three. I offered her 20 for the GT. I'd take the other two (a ladies Bridgestone and a Schwinn classic) but I'm running out of space! I'll contact her next week before she moves if she still has the bikes.
