Sorry if this appears as something of an 'Advert'! but I thought you might be interested in an old film we found in the storage room at our bicycle shop. It shows our workshop in the 1970s and has a nice 'old-style' feel to the film.

Although, that Mr Wittcomb guy brought back memories of the school teacher from "A Clockwork Orange" for some reason.

I think anyone who has a lovely old film like that would be exempt from the 'advertising' restriction. After all, one of us could have posted it just as easily.

Thanks for that. In that piece at the end, I thought Michelle did really well at not catching her bell bottoms in the chain & crank.

I keep wanting to shout "MIND THE CAR" as she turns the corner at the end. hehe.

She did look a tad unsteady as she rounded the corner :p . I'm surprised she managed as well as she did considering the shoes and bell bottoms :) .

That 531 tubing is pretty nice. I just bought an '85 trek with it and there's a certain beauty to it. Are you guys using 753/853/953 more now?

Very cool clip. I love those Witcomb bikes.

In the clip where they were showing pictures of pro racers (I believe the 3rd pic) is of Tom Simpson, who collapsed and died near the summit of Mont Ventou, 1967 Tour De France.

Its not Tom Simpson, it is another Tour Rider, Stan Britten I think. Tom did own a Witcomb but never raced on it.

Ridethecliche: We still use 531 as we have an exclusive with Reynolds, (i'm looking forward to a factory tour from them in 3 weeks), we use 631, 725 and 953, together with all the coloumbus range.

Lamplight: You should see our anniversary bike we're launching in Jan. Its half paint and half polished steel and brass.

Dare we ask if you can get photos, or would that be a no no ?

The local shop here has nos bell bottum clips for sale. Not advertising , just saying.

That kid brazing looks like he's about 13 years old. I guess no one wore eye protection back in the day...

He was probably 16, and an apprentice.

He was 15 at the time, and although no longer a framebuilder he still comes into the shop to say hello. -They did use eye protection but apparently that day they all wanted to be recognised on camera.

Barry, who is 30ish there with long hair, is still our principle framebuilder.

Funny enough the pile of old tubing you see in the film is still in the workshop. -it is old 1930s stock that is too heavy for our bicycles, so has just sat there.

I take it these were found during clean up for renovations? We would love to see photos of the fresh shop and floor as things come along, if you have time of course.

What is that outfit the guy at the end on the clip riding with Michelle is wearing? That looks like it would be vintage even in 1970. Kinda like 1930's golf kit. Love those tall socks.
