My, yes, my Schwinn Sport Tourer!
OK! I just got this home 20 minutes ago and found that it's not completely orig but no big deal as it's just the shifter's and pedal's, easily found and replaced if needed but beside's that I'm very happy with it. if anyone see's anything else "out of place" please feel free to tell me.

I've got a KL frameset that Sierra graced me with, but I'm afraid it will be built up far from stock.

You're the third person to mention the bar end shifters, does any one have any pis of what this bike looked like orig? I'd like to see some good pics of it as it was. I looked on google but didnt find any really good pics of it. I added a set of bar end shifters to my Super Sport

A nice find. With some cleaning and maintenance work you'll have a sweet new ride.
You might need a replacement front dérailleur - at least it looks rather rusted. I can spare one [mostly SunTour] for the cost of shipping. Does the current one has a run of cable housing up to the dérailleur or does it come in bare cable?
The rear dérailleur is a long cage - is the rear freewheel larger than 28 teeth?

Quick question: Is the bottom bracket shell on a Sports Tourer smaller than the one on the Super Sport? Or did Schwinn use the same large size BB shell needed for the one piece Astubula, and use a three piece adapter BB for the 3 piece crankset? This is what they used on my Twinn Sport.
Which looks close to the BB pictured on Bob's SLDB site. Just curious!

ILB, what year is yours? That's a really nice find (and just my size)! I can't be sure, but based on the year, those shifters may not be original either. But you already plan on replacing them so no big deal. That rear dr may not be original, as was stated earlier, but it is REALLY cool looking. Happy riding with that bike.

Pastor, the Sports Tourer used the smaller bottom bracket shell meant for three piece cranks. This is one of the chief improvements of the Sports Tourer over the Super Sport. The Superior, which replaced the Sports Tourer in '76 also used the smaller bottom bracket shell.
