Found a gem today. A Univega I did not know even existed. Check out this 1986 Univega Superlight. It's the Miyata Omnium frame rebadged as a Univega. It is all original except for the stem and handlebars that were changed out. It was not ridden much based on the condition.

This version in aluminum was made in 86&87,also available in fuchsia red.Listed weight was 21#.Your memory is correct,Lawee Inc. went back to Italy in 79 and had three models built with Columbus tubing. They were the Specialissima,Superstrada and Superlight. They were outfitted like their Italvega namesakes. Those 3 were quite special.I don't have a 1980 catalog but I know they are not in the 1981 catalog.

Picked up this 85 Gran Turismo today. Everything is original including brake hoods bar tape and tires.
The tires look almost new. I will clean it up better when I tear it apart to service all the bearings

Bikes: Wow, where to start? A collection of 1980's and early 90's road, touring, and MTBs from the likes of Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Fuji, Miyata, Univega, Panasonic, and GT. It has gotten rather out of control.

Those are even the Miyata radial tires. The pair that were on the 1985 Miyata 610 I found a few months ago were still in decent shape.

Hi, guys. These Land Rover FS mixtes just popped up on CL, and I can't really find anything on the interwebz. Does anyone know something about them? Seller wants $200 for both. I am tempted.

This Craig's find was posted from the original owner who bought it new in San Francisco in 1981. He had it on CL with an offering price of $45.00 - needing some pedals I quickly gave him the cash!

Well, the seller wants $200 for the pair. And they may not be worth $100 for the pair, I can't find any info.
That's a lie, I found this from T-Mar back in '08: 'Typcially the Rover variants were Univega's low end ATB models, with the higher end being the Alpina variants.'
From the pics the rd is Shimano SIS and the cranks are Sugino MP.

Oops, missed that... That'll teach me to read and post without really reading/comprehending. Probably still worth $100/ea though.

I've been busying myself with scanning my Bianchi catalogs and uploading to FB and found this '95 Univega Road and Hybrid catalog

Hybrids and color chart. Those scale paint schemes look cool

Picked up this Metro Ten that appears unridden. Other than some dust, it is immaculate. Couldn’t get it out for proper photos due to thunderstorms.

I’ve had other bicycles that all I did was lube and ride; correct adjustments made 40+- years ago are still correct!

There is always a reason a bicycle is not being ridden…I have found a bunch of such bicycles or at least enough of them to figure out that the bicycles were ridden just enough that the cables stretched enough that the braking, shifting wasn’t quite as sharp as the first initial rides and the bicycles were put aside and never ridden since…the break-in adjustments are so fine that inexperienced hands will bugger things almost immediately!

Nice bike! If that's a keeper for you, and you want to keep it original, then take care of the straddle cable on your DC 960 brakes. I've recently discovered that the double-ended straddle cable in 250mm length is not being made anymore, and it's essentially impossible to find outside of a donor brake set. The commonly available double-ended lengths of 140mm and 330mm are either too short or too long.

I didn't know that existed either. I think that is nicer than a C'dale!
