Ironman Market

CENTURION only (sorry Cannondale). Unscientific data, last year or so on eBay, plus one from 2003. Appears a spike in prices about 5-6 months ago. Text file attached to my post a couple lines down. Best I can do w/100KB

Updates 1/1/08 w/data from a Senior Member. Basic eBay market since Nov '06 w/one 2003 thrown in there. Where no starting bid known, used $100. Where no shipping shown (usually buyer pays), used $50. These bikes are still a great buy. An earlier Centurion Comp TA may be a little better buy, but it's close. Maximize the window and it should all line up.

You really need to separate the Experts from the Masters and the regular Ironmen (there was only one version before 1987). The Experts have lesser components and usually sell for much less. I would be interested to know how much less, but not interested enough to crunch the numbers myself:)

Market

I separated them at first, found no rhyme or reason to the pricing. Highest priced lately , $305 was a mint Expert, but I got my Master, upgraded w/STI 8-speed, Micheline Hi-Lights, and Selle San Marcos Concors Light saddle, for $100. My '89 Expert was $135, I prefer the Suntour GPX, anyway, and it had the same frame, rims, same quality bars, etc. You're right, though, my '87 Expert is Shim 105 all around, was $100.

I'll separate them by model, leave Ironman basic as such, group Experts and Masters best I can. Hopefully, for sellers, the market will take off again next summer. For buyers, right now is just fine.

Thanks for your advice.

OK, updated by model and listed by year. Best buys are pretty much "lurking." 1987 Expert w/pump, computer, 2 cages, just tuned up, appears great shape, listed as "road bike."

Another great buy is the earlier model, Comp TA, if you can find one. Right there with the Master model for components and frame. A "parted" out model sold for over $500.

Updated 2/12/08, with one currently selling.

Well, looks like the Master I bought a couple of years ago (Purple fade) in excellent condition for $115 (local pickup) has doubled in value...

I have traded away the pedals and swapped the Biopace rings for standard rings, but still haven't had it on the road... that is pending weight loss.

glad to be of service. if you ever want to get rid of that purple fade Master.......
