Question on selling vintage items

Just wondering, I check the "for sale" page quite often and rarely if ever see a vintage part or bike/frame for sale on that page. I have a ton of stuff I'd like to clear out starting in a couple weeks and I'm wondering where everyone goes to find used vintage cycling stuff.
I do not want to use local craigslist nor do I want to use Ebay if I can avoid it but I really don't know how to get my stuff in front of the right audience.
I've sold tons of current bike components on various forums and Ebay but this is my first time selling vintage stuff.
I wouldn't mind posting it on our for sale forum but I'm skeptical of the amount of traffic on that board.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch,
KRhea

The For Sale board on bikeforums gets a fair amount of traffic. Though you might want to add a line in your signature with a link to your FS thread so that more of us C&V guys see it. :)

P.S. - you will need to be a contributing member of BikeForums to be able to post in the FS board. Let me know if you have any questions regarding this.

A heads up here when you post would work I would think.

The CR list is great for selling vintage stuff that you are willing to put a fair price on.

yeah, if you give us a heads up, I promise to be there. jim

Ditto on posting a list with prices to the Classic Rendevous listserver. I have purchased from those lists myself. I see lists posted that clear out fairly quickly if you set your prices at a reasonable level....Peter

definitely post a link when you get ready to sell

Again classic rendezvous is the best but your prices must be at little better than ebay. You will get what something is worth though, that is for sure. Ebay is always a guaranteed way to move stuff.

Not sure if this was meant in jest or not but I can assure you my post was intended for informational purpose and not to promote a "sale".
Lastly, if I can get some or all my stuff into the hands of vintage enthusiasts instead of a "reseller" who'll mark the stuff up to stupid prices I'd like to do that and finding out where these enthusiasts "shop" helps in that quest.
Thanks to those who offered thoughts and ideas. I was not aware a person could post directing people tothe "for sale" forum.
Sorry if my post rubbed anyone else the wrong way, it was not my intention at all.

Nah, he was just pointing to his "For Sale" items in his signature as an example of how you can advertise your stuff. ;)

Hey McDave, thanks for pointing that out, I had totally missed it. That's a great way to "post" a for sale notice.
