Modern Paramount with integrated shifters...
Did Waterford produce a Shimano 600 equipped bike with STI? There is one for sale on craigslist right now for the price of 450$. I am not sure if it is a great deal or not. I can't seem to find too much info about the group. It might be a series 7...Is this worth hassling over? It would be an hour drive each way. The color is bluish purple.

The Series bikes did come with Ultegra on the Series 7.
http://www.waterfordbikes.com/site/c...ara_series.php http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1...92_Pmt_18.html It could be an actual Waterford Paramount ... ask for the serial number. http://www.waterfordbikes.com/site/c...ara_dating.php The Series serial numbers would be 2Gxxxxx or G2xxxxx or a format like that. Best of luck, Bob |

What condition is it in? I recently sold one of those exactly the way you described , on Ebay. It was about 3 months ago...it had all Shimano 600 components and 650c wheels....I believe it was a 56 tooth big chainring! Mine sold for about $550 iirc.....and it wasn't in the best of condition....it had led a hard life before I ever received it.....I may have only ridden it around the block to test the tiny wheels.....anyway, it was a 62cm frame but it was wayyyy too small for me. |
A 62cm with 650 wheels.... (needs one of those scratching head smilies)

The Case for 26” Wheels Ask Product Manager and Cat II racer Dennis Lane why you should consider switching to 26” wheels and he’ll tell you the real question is why anyone still rides 700C in the first place. “I’ve ridden a Series 7 prototype for the past two seasons,” he explains, “and the 26” wheels are faster in every respect.” “Of course there’s less wind resistance with 26. And they’re lighter and stronger because the spokes are shorter. And the reduced gyroscopic force lets the bike change lines quicker, making it more maneuverable. And because they’re smaller and weigh less, they accelerate faster. Those are all points people pick up on right away in a test ride.” “But what really sells them is the first time they ride in a pack. They can’t believe it! They’re motoring along at 25 or 30 mph, and realize they’re doing a lot less work – every time they jump it’s an instant bike length on the nearest rider. By the end of the race, they’re lifetime converts.” |
I guess I couldn't find a "pack" in my neighborhood. :)

I wonder why they didn't catch on if there are so many pros to them... |
