'98 C'Dale Rebuild
I wasn't sure if a '98 qualifies or not (it is '08 now...well, in 20 minutes...) but it is 10 yrs old. I did strip it to the frame which was powder coated metallic brown and did all the component re-builds myself. Anyhow, if you want to see more pics it's in the Pac NW regional forum under the same name. Hope all have a safe and ride-filled year coming on!

Nice! Definitely a sharp looker!

That is a very nice looging bike. I'm not sure whether it's vintage or not. Looks like it still has standard geometry, a plus in my book.

Yeah, I know...a '98 is definitely on the fuzzy end of the "vintage" definition. I suupose most would consider any bike that came with brifters a non-classic (until they come out with cranial implant electrical impulse shifting anyway). I spend so much time trolling this forum for pics of the old bikes I loved growing up that I figured the Brooks saddle would be my ticket to post on here :D.
Until I can find a 25" Raleigh pro or International though, this is the only bike that comes close in my small stable. |
Nice looking Bike! C-dale's are neat, even if it's not vintage. :D
Mods' Banish this heritic to the roadie forum!! (KIDDING KIDDING!! :D) |
I posted it there too, but I like the vibe in here with the cobwebs, musty old cotton bar tape, and patinae'd old NR cranks. To say nothing of the dried out genuine leather chamois and stinky wool jerseys.

CAAD3? I ride one of those. I find it a nice ride despite the reputation for being a bone shaker.
The new color is really good looking. How much hand polishing went into the crank? |
It's a beautiful bike, even if it's not really vintage ;) I love my '83 C'Dale, even though it is more than a bit stiff. The color you got is great with the Brooks tape.

I admired this in the PNW forum, but it deserves another round of applause :D .

Thanks, EH.
810; Polishing the cranks took a couple hours per side, but I did it all by hand with a rag and simichrome. The Shimano coating took a lot of rubbing to break down and remove (not sure what that is, anodizing?), but once that was off they polished up easy. I only did the outer surfaces since the inside frame side of the cranks were fine. It'll be a pain to maintain but this is going to be my sunny day ride anyway. |
