Mileage - 2007

How many miles (or kms) did you put on your bikes last year?

My 1971 Atala Grand Prix went a little over 700, as did my not vintage (but trash-rescued) Specialized Hard Rock Comp (primarily winter rides).

The 1964 Dilecta Touring broke 300, as did a lower-level bike boom era Centurion that I was just testing in the spring (rescued from trash in the winter, added air to the tires and rode) before giving to one of my neighbors to bring to their summer cabin.

Since 1/2 my bikes don't have a computer, I can proudly say, I don't have clue.

mpfgc 01-01-08 09:35 PM

None of my bikes have computers - I use www.gmap-pedometer.com.

redneckwes 01-01-08 09:47 PM

I really diddn't keep track. I have multiple bikes and only one computer. I'd guess, overall between 800 and 1K though.

luker 01-01-08 09:47 PM

I had a pretty good year. About 3000 miles, I think. But, on which bikes? wouldn't that require that I write something down?

Sixty Fiver 01-01-08 09:48 PM

Best year ever... 16,000 km.

And my legs aren't even tired yet.

bigbossman 01-01-08 10:47 PM

3,473 miles, and 169,000+ feet of climbing.

All hail Garmin.

+1

And if I did know, I'd be too embarrassed to say in public :D Let's just say this wasn't a stellar year.

cyclotoine 01-02-08 12:13 AM

Not to sure really... it was not a great year for me on home soil but I did lay down 1700 kms in Europe over a 5 week period.

Vintage Cinelli - 500-600
Modern Cinelli - 4-5k

geraldatwork 01-02-08 08:26 AM

Total miles a little over 3400 on my vintage Raleigh a little over 300.

Rabid Koala 01-02-08 10:52 AM

I logged all my odometers on Jan 1.

Last year I did 1,050 miles total. Not lots, but pretty good considering I was benched for a couple of months following sinus surgery last summer.

USAZorro 01-02-08 10:59 AM

Far short of the 3,000 I had hoped for. This year though...

RK1963 01-02-08 11:03 AM

I did (about) 2,000 miles and they were split on 2 bikes from the 80s. A 1983 trek 600 & a 1984 peugeot psvn10. I am in the process of rebuilding my bianchi TSX and I believe 08 will show it the most miles out of the 3.

lotek 01-02-08 11:15 AM

None of my classic/vintage bikes have computers or odometers.
My everyday bike does but I just put it on yesterday (I'm dragging myself
into the '90s ) so I have no clue as to how much I rode last year.

As of August 8th, about a 1000 miles on the roadies. About 200 on the gravel path MUP rider. I have no clue what I road on MTBs. I guess about 100 miles??? Then the doc ordered me off of bikes due to a problem with my neck and shoulder.
Does anyone know the conversion factor for single track, technical MTB trail to road bike on asphault???:D

sykerocker 01-02-08 11:56 AM

5368 for everything that is either in, or passed through, the garage last year. High end was my Bianchi Nyala at 1300+ miles. Low end was my Raleigh Sports: 51. Most everything else did 400-500. I tend to ride 50 miles or a bit more on one bike, then switch to another, and keep everything on the road in rotation.

Neither do mine. But the Garmin is usually in the jersey pocket. :)

mparker326 01-02-08 12:24 PM

~500 on my '62 Raleigh Sports
~700 on my '94 GT Karakorum
~300 on my '89 Schwinn Traveler

Most of these miles were done commuting.

Mooo 01-02-08 05:27 PM

Vintage (mostly hub gear): around 1350
Folder: around 700
Recumbent 26-2700

I calculate hours on the mountain bike, and then use my yearly average speed for a reasonable conversion factor per hour. No, really...I really do.

Well, I did when I wrote stuff down...

vosyer 01-02-08 09:49 PM

My ususal is 2 to 3000, this year because of my touring journeys - 9000 plus miles and not much in the last 90 days. Hoping to start 2008 miles tomorrow depending how nasty the weather might be

monogodo 01-02-08 10:04 PM

Total miles for the year: 503.23 (I only rode about 1/4 of the time that I wanted to).
Breakdown by bike:
Code:

New SS MTB:            18.67  (late 90s vintage frame)
Vitus Futural:        23.73  (80s vintage frame)
  Colnago single-speed:  65.81  (80s vintage frame)
Eddy Merckx:          102.58  (late 80s vintage frame)
  Catamount MFS:        334.07  (mid-90s vintage)

I was at 488.43 miles a week before the end of the year. I specifically went out for a 12+ mile ride on the Merckx to break 500 miles on the morning of the 31st. I hope to have at least 3 of the above bikes into triple-digit mileage by the end of 2008. It'd be really great if I could double my total mileage.

I've never thought to try that...works okay?

Yes, it does. Plus, it's kind of nice because sometimes I fixate on the numbers and forget to enjoy the ride as much as I could.
