Where to buy wheels?

For the last week or so I've been unsuccessfully searching for a good quality splined shimano 7-speed rear wheel or hub. I wonder if any of you might recommend a site/message board/whatever besides craigslist or ebay where I might find this sort of thing.

Too bad you don't want to use eBay. I paid $40 + $15 shipping for these:

Mavic MA40 rims
DT Competition spokes
Shimano 600 hubs with original skewers
Good Continental tires and tubes
Velox rim tape
Nearly new Shimano 7 speed cassette

You can get seven speed stuff cheap because nobody wants it anymore.

Just wanted to say that I'm normally not a fan of that style of bike, but that one's a good looking steed!

To the OP, ebay might be a great way to go on this one.

Is that a Brooks B-18? Don't tell me that came with the bike!

Nothing on the bike came with the bike. I started with a bare frame and fork. I'm talking about the wheelset.

Hey,

I have a Shimano 600 - 7 speed hub, very few miles, but it's been built before
- if you need one. includes skewer. Was about to list it on ebay as I was cleaning
out my part box Mike

That's a great line. It seems to be the case with almost all my bikes as well-:D

By splined do you mean a 7 speed Uniglide hub?

I'd rather a HG hub. I'm working under the assumption that uniglide and Hyperglide used different spline configurations

If so, why? (unless you're doing a correct resto)

These wheels are for an old specialized allez epic, an early aluminum lugged CF bike wirth a 126 spaced rear triangle. Normally I'd just spread the rear triangle to accommodate a 130mm hub, but because this bike is CF, and because the joints are apparently prone to falling apart even without being subjected to these sorts of contortions, I thought better of it.

Nice build! I do make regular use of ebay, it's just that my recent searches haven't turned up a suitable wheel and I'm getting impatient.
