Unknown chrome track/path frame (pics)- any ideas?

I recently got this frame and have no idea on a builder, time period, or frame material. If anybody has any insight it would be much appreciated. Here's what I do know:

-Italian threaded bottom bracket
-26.4 seat tube
-relatively light weight (comparable to an SLX frame I have)
-drilled front and rear... not sure if rear is original
-eyelets on the front fork (not threaded, about 2cm up the fork blades)
-no other braze-on's, no rear eyelets
-"+GF+" stamped on BB shell
-"6384" stamped on the seat lug
-clearance for 700x35+ tires

Looks pre-1950, from what I've seen around here. I'm sure others will know loads more, it's very pretty.
