Yet Another Bianchi ID Thread
 

I recently picked up a Bianchi that had been powder coated, so I'm unsure of the background of it. I think it is mid 80's, since the cable routing is under the BB. There is no frt dérailleur braze on, but two water bottle bosses. This leads me to believe it is a mid range model. Here are a few pictures, if there are any Bianchi experts out there, please chime in. (I have no idea if the decals are correct for the frame)

Any info is most welcome. It has a 70mm bb, so I'm assuming it is Italian built

Looks like an early-mid 80's Italian Nuovo Alloro/Nuovo Racing.

My '83 Nuovo Alloro has serial number imprinted on the seat tube (at the top). I thought that was normal for early '80s italian bikes. Also, mine has only one pair of water bottle bosses.
Mine had "Nuovo Alloro" stickers on the top tube, unfortunately, exactly where I put my hand while shifting... so I rubbed them off over time.

Then again, I'm not an expert.

There's no serial number on the seat lug, so it should be on the bottom bracket, consist of two parts and be 1984 or more modern. The 600 components, if original, date it circa 1984-1987. Decal style can't be counted on, since it's a repaint.

I agree with the OP's mid-range assessment. The most common 600 equipped model during this period was the Limited. They were typically produced in Japan, though some production was pulled back to Italy after the yen evaluation circa 1985. It's probably Columbus Cromor or SL Tretubi.

Knowing the serial number would identify the year and then we may be able to figure out the model. The seat post diameter may provide clues as to the tubeset as would knowing if there are helical ridges in the bottom of the steering tube.

Yes, it looks like a newer version of my 1981 tre tubi Bianchi. Since the geometry is essentially the same as mine, I suspect it is a great ride.

I will get the serial number in a bit, I'm just out the door right now. No ridges on the steerer tube.

I'm not sure if the components are original, it's a mix of different era 600 parts, and has a Specialized BB.
