1942 bicycle race?

Years ago a friend gave me this booster button advertising a bicycle race from Winnipeg to Kenosha. It says it s the 6th annual race. I assume it is Winnipeg Canada to Kenosha WI but am not absolutely sure of that. Any one know anything about this? Roger

It says Kenora. I dont know where that is. Winnipeg to Kenosha would be one endurance event for sure.

EDIT - Kenora, Ontario is about 100 miles due east of Winnipeg.

Cool pin though. WWII, Canada, USA, bike racing. Many people would find that pin of interest.

Duh you of course are right. I live close to Kenosha and assumed it was from this area as I got it here. Thanks for the response. Roger

Roger, Do you go to the bike races in Kenosha? I raced there in my youth. Great track!

I have been over there but not often. My friends daughter is into fixed gears and we have brought her over to try the velodome track experience. Roger

The race was sponsored by the town of Kenora and was very big in its day. The distance was about 150 miles and coverage of the last two hours were broadcast by radio using a transmitter in the lead vehicle. The race was held from 1937-1952 and drew many riders from the USA, particularly Wisconsin and Chicago.
