White "Carlton" Brake Hoods?
Good morning everyone,
I have a pair of white heavy rubber brake hoods that came off of my old Raleigh Grand Prix late (60s or early 70s). Do they have any value to anyone? Im replacing them with a new set of Weinmann-like rubber hoods. This bike is my bad weather 'rider". Im not very educated on what "Carlton" might mean. |
Sure there hard to find in good shape.
|
Raleigh acquired Carlton to build their 10-speeds in the late 50s. I'm sure someone would want.
|
If they're full hoods (for full coverage of a Weinmann or Dia-Compe type brake lever housing) rather than the type that cover only the top half of the lever housing, then I would take them; and even pay a little for them if they're not split or otherwise deteriorated. PM me if you still have them.

I sold a pair of those on eBay for $50 not too long ago.

Well, I have others, so I'm not playing for $50! I don't need "Carlton" that bad.

Probably a one-time thing - sure surprised the heck out of me! On the other side of the coin, I put the red capped "C" chrome wheel nuts up with no reserve and no BIN, and they only fetched 1 bid and $5. |

Sorry - didn't mean to scotch your deal
. . .{snip}. . . I put the red capped "C" chrome wheel nuts up with no reserve and no BIN, and they only fetched 1 bid and $5. And the wheel nuts -- well, you need to spell it out: "C is for Carlton, get it?" Anyway, who looks at wheel nuts? But everyone looks at brake levers. |
