Hirame Bicycles
 

I know I probably should know but...

I just restored a Hirame racing bicycle, -lovely lugged ishiwata steel frame with a fish on the front.

Does anyone know anything about Hirame ? I know its japanese and around 1980s

I have no ideas about the bike or the maker but it sounds nice.

I was going to make that request, but every once in a while I figure I better let some one else ask, otherwise people might start thinking of me as a PEST :eek: :p .

The bike sounds quite lovely though!

These have turned up a couple of times in the past, always in Britain. The previous samples were entry level models with hi-tensile steel frames made by Kuwahara. You definitely have a better one as indicated by the Ishiwata tubing. Fortunately, Kuwahara used an open format serial numbers. Typically, they are located at the bottom of the seat tube, format yy mm xxxxx, where yy = year, mm = month.

Ahhh great thanks. Sadly I think mine is lacking a serial number!

Rides great though, and by shear coincidence I found a pair of 'Sake' -Japanese rice wine, Handlebars to match.... made in England though.. Oh well. Lovely bike to ride.
