Dawes Echelon Wanted

Income Tax rebate is here and once again I'm in search of a Dawes Echelon. Mine was a 78 so I'm assuming they were a mid-late 70s Dawes Touring model. 531 Main frame, Atlantic Blue (only color)
Weinman centerpulls,SR Crankset and stem.
Anyone know of one up for sale /have one up for sale/have a lead on one contact me (off site if possible)
55/56cm (21-22")

i have an older Dawes frame but i am not sure of the model. It is a nice blue but i don;t think that is the original colour. It has a chromed rear triangle and 3/4 chromed forks and an integrated cable hanger bridge on the rear seat stays.. Any idea what it might be.

The Dawes Echelon was called a "racing" bike by Dawes at the time. If its like their other "racing" models its more like a light tourer, with mudguard eyes and clearance for narrrow mudguards.

Still listed in the '84 catalogue.

Re:Still listed in the 84 catalog

Good to know.
Dawes,it seems, was like a ton of other european manufacturers that wound up downsizing and selling out to conglomerates by the 90s.
While still listed, I believe the Galexy is the only holdover from DAWES days as one of the better touring bikes.
Untill it was stolen (early 90s)I put well over 30K on that bike .I can honestly say I never found a bike to compare with it for long distance touring at a decent clip.
The 'echelon' decal was on the top tube near the headset tube

The two most recent threads featuring Dawes got me thinking about my unidentified Dawes frame.

Does this look like your old 1978?

As you already know , those are few and far between . In the four years I've been perusing flea bay, I have only seen one , and I believe it was mid '80s . Good luck to you on your search !
