TA madness

Decades ago I got a box of TA pieces along with the purchase of a Paramount, but never the right pieces to built anything useful. A number of years ago I sold all the arms on ebay, but kept one pair. A couple of years ago I bought these outer and inner rings at a swap meet with the thought of finally building up a double. A week or so ago I said what the heck, and ordered a new triple ring and the correct bolts to build this up from Harris. I'm planning on putting it on my next build, whatever that is, with a Nuovo Record rear with a Rally cage and a 14/34 freewheel. As these arms are 185s, should be a hell of a climber! Oh, ran these arms and rings over the buffing wheel!

I bought a new 52 ring for mine, and then I remembered that I sold it at a bike swap. :(

52, what a heeman! I'm a 48, 49 or 50 kinda guy. This TA turned out 48/44/36.

57x17.
It's totally impractical and I just set it up, but it's still cool.

Good man!

Bianchi: 50-42 / 14-26
Capo #2: 49-46 / 14-26
Schwinn: 48-40-28 / 13-26
Capo #1: 47-38 / 13-23

I do have a 58-tooth 6-bolt 157mm BCD ring, if anyone with cottered cranks and Simplex 3-to-6-bolt adaptors can use it.

When I first started riding seriously in the early 70s my knees were killing me from pushing gears that were too high. My friend Jack, who taught me most everything I know about bikes suggested changing the outer to 50 or 49, like he rode. I've been much happier ever since, I use my outer ring much more this way, and never used those big gears anyway!

I have a couple Campagnolo 54s if anyone needs em, in 151 and 144.

185 crank arms !!!! My knees are aching at the very thought of it.

I would LOVE to find a set of 185 pro 5-vis, I found a set of 175s and thought I was doing well, maybe I'll see if anyone wants to trade on CR... I have 185 TA carmina's with 50/34 on my modern 10 speed marinoni build... i should have gotten 50/36 but oh well. I love the 185s.
