If you were looking for a custom road frame, which builders would you look at to do it. The limits would be wait time must be something reasonable not two plus years. A good, steel, chrome lugged road bike with nice paint, etc. Thoughts?

there's a list of guys that sachs recommends here:

https://richardsachs.com/nextwave.html

I'm sure there lots of other though, like Nobilette, that are really good but not on that list.

Sachs and Baylis are going to be more than 2 years wait.
I'm not sure of the wait time for Dave Kirk but he'd be right up there
on my short list of custom builders.
There is a guy in Austin (can't recall his name ) who also does some nice work.
And I have to give the nod to David Cheakas at SoutwestFrameworks here in Dallas.
Not too long a wait and very nice stuff.

Check the list of vendors at NAHBS... My guess is that almost all of the frame builders there will build a decent frame.

Rich Adams will get my business when I decide to get something custom built... Mostly because I know he is easy to work with, is local, and I have seen the nice work on all of his frames that I have seen.

https://bicycleframes.com

I don't know what his backlog is.

I spoke with Moyer and he is not building right now. He is taking six months or more off and then will get back to building. His wait time is around 12 months when he does decide to take it up again. I like his work a lot and I hope he decides to build again.
