Anyone Aching for an 853 build?
Check this out!
The frame looks pretty awesome. I already have a project and I'm broke so I won't be touching anything anytime in the near future.

I'm not a big fan of oversized tubing. I do know where to find a near-mint 853 Bob Jackson for a really good price, but I don't think it qualifies as C & V.

Haha, I'm sure mine doesn't either, except it was marked waterford
The tubes aren't all that big. My cannondale's tubes are ginormous!

If it's your size and a great price, then I would test it out. It's a good marque and nice tubing. Who knows, you might really like it. At least, it's steel and will be C&V elligible before you know it.

Too bad the paint is so messed up to have rust set in.
I guess I don't see the desirability of 853 tubing. As I understand it, it's real benefit is for builders, not the end user (air hardening).
My modern steel wish list is more for a frameset made from the new stainless steel tubeset(s) now available.
Cannondale: I just got a 3.8 series frame, yup, fat tubes....I couldn't fit my portable stand over the downtube.

I don't like the "look" either. However, my bianchi tsx w/oversized, ovalized downtube, although a heavier bike, just "feels" faster than my thinner tubed, lighter, peugeot psv.
