Not much, especially if it needs work to be rideable. Ross had a couple nice models, the Eurosport wasn't one of them. If it works it could be a nice beater bike for you to ride around on though.

And more importantly. Do your Grandparents know you picked this up from their garage? It sounds like you have no interest in the bike, other than how much it will put in your pocket, is all I'm saying.,,,,BD

Ross Eurosports are highly coveted by collectors.

It is worth $75,000 for an example in poor shape.

A men's Ross Eurosport?

Not worth much on the collector market these days.

A prime, mint example would net you around $7.47.

A beat up, rusty women's model would probably pull down around $21,000.

If the bike had been picked up from your parents' garage- it would be worth approximately $194,000,000.13.

Unfortunately, the "grandparent" aspect knocks a little off the top end- to about $8.

I have some information about your men's Ross Eurosport.

You got it from your grandparents' garage and you're trying to sell it.

Consultation fee: $395.

Thanks.

Ross Chimera

I have a Ross Chimera XC and i love it. I bought it at a bike shop in Utica, NY in 1995. I was told it was a "layaway" that was never picked up from the summer before. I paid the balance which, if I remember right, was still almost $200. I just got it out of storage where it's been for about a decade and had it tuned up. It's in excellent shape and I love to ride it. I would like to know what yesr it actually is. I think a 1994 give or take a year. It's a metallic blue color. Really pretty. If I can figure out how, I'll post a photo. I would love it if any of you could tell me anything more about it.

That's an interesting BCA, it looks identical to a Lotus frame set that a friend gave me a while ago. The Lotus was missing a decal from one seatstay cap covering up the "BCA" engraving, I assume they bought BCA's stock at some point. Does your bike have a decal with the country of origin?

I've recently finished rebuilding my Ross Force 1 which is said to have been owned by one of the Ross Indians, the world's first professional mountain bike team. I love the bike. See it here:

The guy I bought my Mt. Hood claimed that it was an Indian team frame although the PO had swapped out all the higher-end components with a regular Mt. Hood groupset from another frame that fit him better.

i don't know about how true that is but I've never been able to find a headset that fit the steer tube threads without slipping. The original top cup had a crack on it and I ended up having to re-use the top locking nut from the old headset because nothing I could find would thread properly or stay on. It's like the threads are cut just a tad deeper than 1" ISO. Maybe they had a weird batch of ISO headsets that fit too tight and just threaded the steer tubes to match them?

I suppose I will have to check and see who registered the bike with the Crested Butte, Colorado Marshall's office.. Maybe it will tell me for certain. Either that or run into the local guy who knows the full history of the bike. I believe him though because the guy I got the bike from had no reason to lie and knew little if anything about cycling. He was just a guy needed a bike to ride and someone donated him the Force 1, told him it was a team bike. At this point it's hearsay but I think I trust the guy. He was asking, almost begging 20 bucks out of me for the bike to leave town with but didn't tell me about the team factor until I was picking the bike up so why would he lie? It waas just a detail that he remembered that the guy who donated it to him told him. I guess I should find out for sure because it's a heck of a detail in my opinion.

It is great to read through the posts of this thread. Found a very nice white Eurotour 3 this past summer and really enjoyed the ride. Have it fitted with a Wald 520 rear and detachable front basket. Just needed routine maintenance and a hub cable adjustment. Was a fun commuter and errand bike

Recently added a CL listed Europa 3 a week ago. It was a bit rougher than the Eurotour but is ready to go. Intend to Waldize this bike as well.

Found a good price on a Nexus 7 system and plan to upgrade one of these bikes for next year and try it for a bit of touring.

Found this in the trash today. Ross Adventurer, 12 speed, I'm guessing late 80s/early 90s. Steel wheels, not a very high end bike, but I think it'll make a fun commuter that I'll not be afraid to lock up.

It's missing a bunch of crank ring bolts, has no bar tape, is a bit rusty and has two flat tires. But mechanically, it seems pretty sound and should actually ride when I clean it up.

My spring break is next week so hopefully I can get it going.

SHerwood Ross (1921-2013)

I'm deeply saddened to report that my Dad passed away peacefully yesterday in Florida at 92. He was a decorated combat veteran in the Pacific arena during WWII. He will be missed and always remembered by his surviving family and friends.

Andrew, welcome to Bike Forums. I rode a Ross road bike for thousands of miles as a teenager. Beat the pants off that thing, pushing it beyond what it was designed to do and then some. I loved that bike, it never let me down. Some of my best memories were formed riding that Ross... My condolences to you and your family.

My condolences, Andrew, sorry for your loss. My older sister's first ten speed was a Ross Compact, I remember that the double rear reflector was the coolest thing my ten year old eyes had seen! I have had a soft spot for Ross bikes ever since, Thanks.

Condolences Andrew...I understand the loss, we lost Dad at a very young age. I Have a Ross Mt Whitney, with Campagnolo Euclid Mt. Bike running gear, which I enjoy almost every day. I don't think its possible to measure enjoyment spread to so many by the simple ownership and use of a Ross Bicycle
