Falcon?
 

I just got this Falcon of off my cool arse junk guy, Im wondering if you guys can add some info to what Im finding on the interweb. So far all I see on the bike is its got forged drops, steel wheels, steel bars, Reynold 501 tubing, and its slightly to tall for me. I think the steel parts were all replacement parts? Im not sure.

I used to own a falcon in 1990. It was a level below what you have. Mine Reynolds 350 or 450 But it was my first real road bike with down tube shifters and I rode the crap out of that bike the next two years. I was just getting started in 1990 and still have fond memories of it. Getting back to your question, I think we can safely assume that those "steel" parts were replacement parts. The frame and fork look in good condition for a restoration project. Good luck

We know it is no earlier than 1983 because that is the model year that Reynolds 501 made its debut. It is also no later than 1987, because the Falcon graphics had changed by 1988. The only two Reynolds 501 bicycles that I'm aware of were Shimano 105 and Sante equipped. My guess is that the frame was stripped of it's original components, with the possible exception of what appears to be a Stronglight crankset, which was found on other models of this level and era. This suggests the bicycle was originally European equipped and non-SIS, and would knock the date back another year, possibly two. Is there a model number on the crankset? What is the serial number?

Whatever it is, it's really neat, I'd upgrade the heck out of that!

It is a Stronglight crankset and the only numbers I can make out on the cranks are 08 0132, where would I find a serial number?

Falcon information is very hard to find. I have a Falcon of England Europa that I know next to nothing about. I have done about every google search I could think of looking for information. I would say that yours is later than mine though based off of nothing more than intuition from the graphic style.

I believe Classic Rendezvous site and Sheldon Browns site both have a decent history on the bike.
English, and entry level racers (along with Atala and Bertin)back in the 70s,is how I remember them.
