Help- ID this Bianchi
I've had this bike for awhile and have not looked into it's history as to what model, year etc and would like some help. I'm not at all familiar with Bianchis and this bike came in a collection of 3 bikes I "had" to purchase to get "the one" I was after.
Here are some pics and if there's a need for more please let me know. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/IMG_0462.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/E02A1950.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/E02A1955.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/E02A1953.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/P1010002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/P1010009.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/P1010007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/E02A1962.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/P1010020.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/P1010022.jpg |
I have had the same or similar model a few times, twice in Celeste and once in metallic green. As far as I know it was their basic entry level "boy racer" model from the early 70's. I've seen them come with sew-ups or 27" clinchers.
I think your bike may have been "tarted up" a bit by the previous owner, using an earlier style decal set and a Columbus tubing decal, which I've never seen come on one of these straight gauge frames. The water bottle is correct for an early 80's bike. Anyway, they are real cute bikes with a real classic "60's" look. And yours looks very clean. With a decent leather saddle installed it should do well on ebay. |
Lovely old Bianchi. I was very interested in Otis' analysis. His 'cute' summary put a smile on my face but he is spot on - it is 'cute' and very clean. It is not a top of the range model but I think that makes it even more interesting.
I'd take Otis' advice and get a nice leather saddle. Nice bike, nice photos, thanks, Gary. |
Beautiful bike. I am pretty sure that it is from the late 60's, due to the fact of the cottered crank and I think a Valention derailleur. Beautiful condition ! Ah, what bikes used to be really like.

Thanks "Jack", the gentleman I purchased it from, the original owner, said he thought he had purchased it post 1965 but he could not remember exactly. I appreciate your "confirmation" of that.
He loved the bike and tried very hard to keep it in good condition. It's obvious he succeeded. KRhea |
