Not my Miyata as I ride a 63-65cm bike, but one I just got done fully restoring. 1982 Pro Miyata. Original AGC 300 brake calipers, bottom bracket, freewheel, Superbe FD and RD were either previously replaced or died. Superbe brake calipers, a BB UN72 bottom bracket, and a pair of early Cyclone derailleurs were the new additions along with a host of consumables. Beautiful bike with a killer blue color. A smooth rider that was very responsive to any input. This picture shows the bike seeing the light of day after many months buried with dozens of bikes at the local non-profit LBS that I volunteer at. Redemption!

I have a 1984 Miyata 610 that is in the works. It will grace these digital pages soon...

This seems like as good a place as any to ask about the A050 shifter set. These are index spaced for 7 speed Shimano so I guess they'll work with SunTour/SunRace freewheels too, right? Also, I couldn't find the specs on the shifters, what do they weigh without the cables? I've heard estimates of 100-250 grams for the 3x7 set so I would appreciate someone giving me a real number.

They will work with sunrace 7sp as thats identical to shimano spacing.

As for a050 shofter weight...figure 300g. I have some sitting somewhere in a drawer- they arent anything featherlight.

FWIW, I've used both and prefer the Microshift Sb-r472/3 over the Shimano A050. The double paddles lay under my finders just right, and the downshift paddle just feels better than the Shimano thumb lever.

Thanks for addressing my question. Hard to believe they weigh that much. They are dimensionally large but seem like mostly hollow plastic. If you happen to get them in sight, could you pop them on a scale?

Here's a 1979 Miyata LeMans Course I picked up in a bike junkyard over the weekend. This seems to have been a model for the Japanese market. Since Panama City is near several military bases, I'm guessing this bike made it back home with someone stationed in Japan. There's also a neat Japanese registration sticker on the back of the seat tube.
It's neat: the frame is chromoly with hi-ten fork, 26.6 seat post. Suntour Vx drivetrain and recessed DiaCompe 500 brakes. Super rad gold anodized and pantographed crankset. Couldn't find the wheelset, but I'm guessing it was 27" as a 700x35 fits. Maybe a women's touring saddle (?) as it's wide and short.
I started cleaning it up over the weekend. I'll probably give it 700x32s and fenders. I hope I can think of a way to touch up the paint. The stickers are super rad.

WOW
I finally commuted on my carbon Miyata. STUNNED.
It has 20mm tires on it and it soaks bumps like my Trek 610 with 32mms. It’s actually startling. I was hitting manhole covers on purpose just for the novelty. I am just amazed.

Just picked up a 25" frame '81 Miyata 1000 in burgundy/rose color off my local Facebook marketplace ads this morning... Pics in the ad showed it to be a Miyata, but it was listed as a Raleigh! Too tall for me, so I'll be cleaning it up a bit before posting it for sale... Or if somebody wants it as-is...

Looks like it is still pretty much stock with the stickers still on the bottom bracket. 1st gen Cyclone derailleurs, 40-spoke rear wheel, and the rest of the stuff is as-specced in the catalog, but the factory racks are missing (I asked).

I wrapped up the ‘79 Miyata LeMans Course with some fresh Newbaum’s and I dare say it looks pretty good. It cleaned up real nice, I even saved the chain. I’m too big for it and my partner isn’t interested, so it’ll be put up for sale locally.

Man, @BassoBry , your Miyata just looks right. All of it. Way to go in building up a non-traditional (ok, road bike) frame, and with Campagnolo! How does it ride so far?

Thank you man! I wasn't sure how the frame (long wheelbase, weird early 90s hybrid geo) was going to work out. My friend had owned the frame for a few years and had it set up ss. I had ridden it a few times and would always stare at it with the idea to do this. After bugging him for a few a years he finally traded it to me for a stem. The tubing is pretty light and the bike as seen in the photo above weighs around 23 lbs. I've done a few 80 milers upstate and I've been blown away with it. It's such a comfortable, yet fast ride. Pretty happy with it.

Here’s my 1979 Miyata 912 again, wearing it’s latest from Gugificazione, transforming it into my “travel bike” for its fourth major configuration since I bought it new:

All the mods were done to the front fork: re-raked for lower trail (better handling with a front load), brazed-on posts for a center pull front brake, custom racks for a front bag and modular low-rider pannier racks, plus the various fork fittings for those racks. And @gugie suggested Waxwings in Vermont for the custom front bag. It all works fabulously!

Mark has an excellent design for the decaleur that works with a VO bag mount, and incorporated the cable housing stop needed for the center pull brake. That brake, BTW, works just as well with similar feel as the dual pivot on the rear, both with Kool Stop salmon pads. The funny looking protuberance on the rack is a bolt-on headlight mount.
