Miyata 310, purchased from Stone's in Alameda, Ca. in late summer 1984. Serial L170896. Came with the "Golden Arrow" shift levers and front and rear deraileurs.

Scott, the 610 is going to Daytona! Gent contacted me last week about it, and I'm boxing it up now.
I just got this from a fellow in Hyannis; it's waiting for me in Chatham. Not a Miyata, and not top of the line, but a few steps up from what I usually ride.
I'll be down sometime over Patriots Day.

Top, that's great news! The Miyata has spent all of it's years in cold climates, it deserves sunny Florida.
I really wanted it to be ridden again, thanks for being a part of that process. Not sure when I'll be down to CC, if you're there maybe I'll try to get down that weekend. As you know, the weather can be really nice .... or really, really bad.

Very stable, smooooth ride with sweet DA EX/AX equipment. Liked it a lot! It was the earliest with Miyatas own tubing in my stable back then. It went to a friend in UK. Unfortunately it turned out to small for him, so that is why it is up for sale again. Maybe interesting for somebody on here. It was practically new, at least when it left me.

When I bought it used from the friend of a co-worker, the RD and hanger were a bit mangled so I decided to swap the drivetrain out for Shimano Sora with northroad bars and 7 speed rapid fire shifters. It has always been comfortable and trouble free, despite the frame being a bit on the small side for me. Too bad the stock, smooth wall Araya's don't have the hooked beads though.

It is almost all original. I put the Avocet Touring II saddle and Blackburn rack on back in '86, and I swapped the Arayas for some Wienmann concave rims a few years back. The rest is stock.

Koga Dork Bike
Here is my dorky bike, a 2007 Koya-Miyata Expression. Nothing fancy, but it does the commuting job reliably, with a nice gear range despite being an internal gearbox, which is what I was really looking for when I found that Koga had just such a beast.

Thanks. It does get old being hassled when on group rides with my buddies, with "when are you going to get a decent bike?" My answer: never. This bike fits perfectly, and rides like a dream. The 6lbs it outweights my friends bikes by, is more than made up, by the gallon+ of water they carry in their stupid Camelbacks! Maybe I need new riding buddies.... .

Here's my Miyata 610. The 2nd picture is the same bike loaded. the 3rd pic. is my wife's 615. It's the small frame with the 24" wheel up front. Looks odd but fits her well.

I don't know whose it is, but I lock my bike up next to this beautiful red 615 every tuesday and thursday when I go to one of my classes. It's my size, too.
