Bianchi Value
There's a mid 80's Bianchi Alloro on eBay and I am wondering about the value. It has Modolo brakes with Campy drivetrain, but there are no good pictures of the components and the seller is not up on bike stuff. I was wondering if anyone knew what typically came on this model. I think it is probably original equipment throughout. Thanks!

For me, it would depend on knowing what the fork and rear triangle are made from. I never understood tretubi. Are the forks and rear triangle made from hi ten? If so, I would pay no more than $200.
This is why, instead of a bianchi tretubi bike, I bought a trek 600 in the 80s . I knew I was getting reynolds 531 main tubes and a tange fork with tange stays. Having said this, I have nothing against bianchi. In fact, my bianchi tsx rides great. I also had an alloro from the late 90s---kind of nice, however, it was HEAVY. In fact, the year after my late 90s steel alloro was made, they started making them out of aluminum. |
The price is too high for a midrange groupo that probably has lots of miles on it. You could get a comparable Japanese bike for much less. The Columbus SP/SLX are worth bidding on but not tre tube.
The old Schwinns used Tre Tubi/Tenax and they were quite good and often sold cheaper than the fancy Italian Celeste paint schemed Bianchis. I would recommend finding a tenax Schwinn...They are so classic and great value. |
