Your book is on my Amazon wishlist, waiting for purchase. Looking forward to digging into it.

Someone is confused. The Rockhopper may have Ritchey components, but Tom Ritchey has nothing to do with Specialized, who got into the MTB business by buying four of his bikes and having them reverse engineered.

I'm sure Tom will be at NAHBS. A few years ago he told me I say the same thing every time we run into each other, that I'm the luckiest guy who ever lived. Now I'm careful not to say that, even if I believe it!
I will be attending with MTB legends Joe Breeze and Chris Chance, hopefully meeting mutual friend my brutha from anotha mutha Chris Kelly when we get there. When I walk around a place like that with those guys, the seas part like the Red Sea in front of Moses. I get a sunburn from the reflected glow. |

I expected better from a "knowledgable" person. In other words, the response would have elements of patients with an explanation to those of us who don't know the history or the resulting products. Your book may explain it, but I am sure not going to order one now. This RockHopper has not only TR components in the general sense, but has TR tubing in addition. Based on your comments, this is confusing and you haven't explained or clarified where this bike fits in your story line. From my perspective, it appears that Specalized built RockHoppers with TR frame tubing and components. From your comments, that is not clear. |

I never thought of frame tubing as "Components." I don't think others consider tubing as "components" either. Especially if they have been assembled as a single component called a frame. If you do, then you have contributed to the confusion, not clarified. The components of a frame include tubing in the context of frame building but we were discussing a "Bike" of which a frame is one component.

Ritchey tubing and Ritchey components don't make it a Ritchey bike. What story line? Have you confused me with someone else? Also, Sorry if I failed to meet your expectations with my "knowledge" Wtf? |
