This was the last picture I got of the boss's bike before I took it back to him. It's a Trek 2120. I stripped the frame as mentioned earlier. We clear coated it and reassembled with cleaned parts and plenty of fresh grease. I still disagree with the bar setup, but thats what he likes. I took this picture with a flash to show off the reflective tape. It is actually dark grey and finishes up the edges of the carbon almost invisibly.

Here is my 1995 Diamondback Vertex WCF which is one of the best bike purchases I have ever made. Its the best mountain bike I have ever ridden. I have no worries about the 17 year old carbon fiber in this bike.

Nah....Most likely my first non-French build as the frameset is from the US, the brakes and derailleurs from Campagnolo and the crank supposedly an early generation drlliumed DA. I might just go the Campy NR or SR route with this build as it sounds like this one's a very early CF bike. Could even be as early as 1972(?) in this case. I'll have to figure it out further when I get it to find out what needs to be replaced.

You must be referring to the Exxon "Graftek".....
I did find just a bit of information on the "Line Seeker" bike after some digging around, but there wasn't much out there.
I did find out that Exxon actually owned the "Line Seeker" product name but the registration for their owenrship (copyright?) had been cancelled, I suspect a long time ago. So it's turning out that the "Line Seeker" name/bike most likely was the precursor to the "Graftek" and the first CF bikes from Exxons might have carried the "Line Seeker" name. Marketing people at Exxon might have invented the more techy "Graftek" name after a year or two to improve sales and it's then high tech image to the public.
So, my theory is, the Line Seeker CF bikes are the earliest version of the "GrafteK" G-1 bikes from Exxon. The details on the bike like the older Campagnolo based rear drop outs and stay connections seem to support this. Otherwise, the bike looks identical to the earliest Grafteks.
The owenr I bought the bike from notes that he purchased it in 1972, which is earlier that what is usually mentioned for the Graftek's release or around 1975. If that's the case, The Line Seeker maybe one of the first CF bikes ever to be sold out there?? Unless Mossberg beats that 72 date. After I tell them the Kestrel 4k is over 25 years old, they're almost blown away! Oh, and they ask what's hanging on the seat, I tell them is my spare tubular tire.

A 1993 Miyata Team Carbon just came up for sale in my area. 60cm. 3x10 Ultegra, Ritchey wheelset.
Probaby the prettiest frame, IMO, Miyata ever made. Not sure if he'll sell as is or part out.
I'd be interested in the 3x10 group if he did.

Whoa!!.....those are truly "EPIC" CF C&V bikes you have there!!
I came very close twice to owning one of those Specialized CF bikes (got beat twice bidding for them at eBay) and I still consider them to be possible adds to my stable in the future. I just have to find one that I sccesfully bid on and afford....

I do like the multi-tone blue, the polished tail and the nice detailing with this frame. Moreover it was the frame Greg Herbold used to race in dual slalom events.

Not eye candy yet, and I'll need lots of advice on how to bring this beauty back to life, and my garage doors are brown, so here's a brand new to me 60CM Exxon Graftek, original fork + seat post, and Super Special Thanks to the thread starter himself. Wanted one of these since the Cool Gear days.
Dropout marked 60 and the rear brake bridge has a 60 S plus a serial number. Would that S mean it was originally built w/ ShimaNO, hence the early DA rear? Lots of clear coat chipping, a little gouge of CF missing from downtube, and some chrome chipping from the BB Shell & brake bridge. And those stickers need to go. Still though, I'm thrilled to own it. I'm told John Howard rode this actual frame, so it must be true, right?
