Looking for vintage art prints
I suddenly feel the need to own some vintage prints to hang in my shop
This one caught my eye http://wearpower.com/images/axis/ite...png?1193113950 Where would one find such a thing? |
With so many reprints available, I'd be wary of ones advertised as original. But if you're okay with reprints, there are plenty to be had. Here's a site I Googled that has quite a few:

Bicycle-art.com , I wonder if they have bicycle art? Doh, thanks for the push in the right direction

I wouldn't look for an original -- I'd look for a high quality reprint.
I was in Vegas at the Paris Hotel a few years ago. They had a shop where they were printing up large-sized prints of these sorts of posters on nice, thick paper. I'm actually headed there for a convention on the 15th. If I get a few minutes free I will see if that place is still there and report back. |
Just put in "bicycle poster" into ebay and you will get hundreds of reprints for $14.99.
If you want originals, I recommend http://www.bicyclegifts.com/index.html . They were at the Madison swap and are just outside of Chicago. They are a very nice couple with great original art. Huge prints, 72"x48" but the prices are also huge (but well worth it for original artwork), up to $5,000 IIRC. |
We've actually had a thread on this subject in the Women's forum. We came to the conclusion that it was strange how virtually all of the turn of the century adverts featured women wearing little to no clothing, and when they were wearing clothing, it was not the sort of attire one would opt for when riding a bicycle!
But they are great posters :D . East Hill |
