Motobecane
It sure has become a chore sifting through pages of Chinese "Motobecanes" on eBay trying to find the occasional French bike.
That is all. |
+ a bunch.
Wish E-bay could be set to differentiate between REAL Motobecanes and Junk. |
At least it's not that guy parting out and selling an old motorscooter each nut, bolt and washer at a time.
|
Just search for used bikes. When I look, sometimes after selecting "Complete Road Bikes", I'll click on "Used", then select a brand or size or ___. All the new Motobecanes should drop right out.
|
try searching "complete road bikes & frames" to get to the "motobecane" listings, then scroll down for "steel".
that should get you all the appropraite french bikes save the aluminum prolights- if that's what you're after a search under "vitus". |
Hey Blue O,
I can't recall how tall you are. What size Moto are you lookin' to ride? |
I ride a 58 cm Motobecane, but I'm not really looking for anything in particular. I have a Grand Touring now, and just like keep my eyes out for anything interesting. The interesting ones always go for more than I want to pay, though. There was a sweet Super Touring on eBay recently, but at over $300, that's more than I'd want to pay for it.
Still, fun to see what's out there, not so fun when I have to sift through all those Chinese bike listings. |

I saw that S-T, amazing condition. Can not believe the $$ it brought!
I was watching the S-T you bought, and I just couldn't bring myself to bid on it, because it was in such bad condition. You've really brought it back to life; it's amazing how good it looks now! |

D'Ohh! Shoot... OK, I asked because after I score the T.A. cranks, bars, and wheels off of this, I was hoping that a tall member might be interested in the 531 Grand Record frame.....It has many cosmetic issues, and a ding, but it is after all a '74 with Nervex..... I guess it's off to the bay.....

If only I were taller.... I'm sure somebody here is tall enough, though. Sweet looking Grand Record, too bad about that ding.

Bottom line: I made contact with the gent, came to terms, and it will be waiting for me the next time I visit my folks. Aside from the fact that it's my size and Vitus 888, i still can't find that much out about it. Top |

That is all. Motobecane, France. |
I've got a 1982 Mirage that will be going on ebay in the next few weeks. It's in excellent condition; only reason i'm selling is it's about an inch too tall.

The key word to include in your search is vintage; then try classic. Finally, France-- as in
Motobecane, France. But I think this would work:

They show up every now and then, two upper-mid level Super Touring Moto's have been on in the last six months, both '80's I bought the first one for $65, with the benifit of it being a 20 minute drive to pick it up. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...e/100_0012.jpg The second ended a few days ago at more than $300! (needless to say, I diddn't buy that one!) |
