Determining BB type

Is there a way to check a BB shell to find out what type of threading it has? Something like: "If drive side is clockwise and non-drive side is counter-clockwise, then it is an X type"
I have an Austro-Daimler Inter 10 and the BB is close to dead. I found a few references to this models bottom bracket but it seems that they went from a french or swiss bb to english at some point in their history and I don't know the year this was made (mid 70's I believe).

Thanks in advance

French...both right hand
Swiss and British....drive side left hand non-drive right

Swiss cups can be indentified using methods in the previously posted link.
