Replacing Clubman Stem

1 Attachment(s)
My 1951 Clubman has a stem without the nut at the top to tighten a wedge down inside - instead it has a clamp on the stem itself like a seatpost clamp, sort of.

Although it looks real nice, it's steel and I have an Hiduminium replacement coming, period correctish, that I want to use, but it has the nut at the top and a wedge like most seatposts do. Can I still use it? Or should I take out the nut and wedge and use just clamp? Or should I use both?

The attachment is a blurry cropped image of the clamp, in case you weren't confused already.

Thx

Mark

I have a standard wedge stem in a couple of bikes that have the headclip setup. Hasn't been a problem.
