Daccordi 50th anniversary worth restoring?
I am trying to figure out if it is worth ‘’restoring’’ this Daccordi 50th anniversary road bike. The bike is in good-very good condition and is stamped 259.
The bike came equipped with;
-Strange CLB brake calipers and levers
-Chorus Crankset and BB
-Mavic Hubs and SSC Rear derailleur
-Super record shifters, headset and Front derailleur
The frame is in good condition and I figured that once the bike is cleaned and the paint touched up I could get $750 for it on EBay. My dilemma is whether I should equip the bike with Super Record and other parts I already have or not. I would add a SR rear derailleur, SR crankset, SR brakes and levers, Gipiemme BB, New rolls saddle and new tires. Additional cost would be about $450. Would I end up with a $1200+ bike or is it a waste of time and I should sell it as is.
Sorry for the extremely rational reasoning. I would actually not mind taking the time to make it beautiful in order to be able sell something I am proud of but will not attempt this ‘’restoration’’ if I am going to lose money.
Thanks for your input !
This pictures shows the bike with some parts I threw on to see how it would look

It is not worth restoring in terms of a full repaint and new components. Leave it be and sell it for what you think is worth. Get a chain on, some fresh bartape...maybe a new rear cluster...I'd say if you got it running again it should be worth 750$ out the door...Put some cheapy Vittoria Ralley tires on, a chain etc...Or leave the stock sew ups as a demo tire only...
The frame is gorgeous. Putting SR components on is not a good idea if you plan on doing another a classic restoration. There is not a damn thing wrong with that bike. At 750$ USD in modest good running order you would get nice chunk of cash and give somebody a very sweet deal.
Why would you want to sell it? If the need for money is a motivator I understand but consider that steel frames are going to be very popular once the carbon fiber tech dorks see the light. You might not in your lifetime be able to find such a beautiful frame again.

Thanks for your answers. It does fit but I flipping bikes is how I pay for school so I can't keep every bikes that passes through my hands.
The term restoring is not a good one. I was thinking of just touching up the chips in the paint, cleaning the bike, polishing the chrome, etc. I already ordered some vittoria rally tires and bar tape from PBK, ($17 / tire , wow! ) .
The super record parts were headed for Ebay anyways, so my logic was that I would rather sell everything at once and have the pleasure to build a very nice bike at the same time.

It's just so beautiful with the chrome lugs and all....couldn't you sell a different one? You'll probably do better if you sell the frame alone and all the parts individually. That is what I would recommend. I'm in the same boat as you though I don't depend on it to pay for school it does help me eat a bit better and go out to restaurants.

Mmm I like my Gios better. I don't think parting it out would be a good idea since the parts are not in perfect shape, I am not too sure about the value of the CLB brakes and would not get much for the wheels. I'm happy I don't have to rely on flipping bikes for all my needs, I would'nt last long.

Here is the final product, listened to your advices and limited the amount of super record parts I put on the bike. I still went with a SR rear derailleur as I had 3 in my parts bin. I was happy to find some red Modolo professionnal calipers and c-record (chorus?) brake levers. I am still not sure about the black tires. I went around the block and the ride quality is exceptionnal, you can certainly expect that for a bike built with columbus slx, but still , I was impressed.

They look like early 90s record delta levers... a shame you have to sell it, I think you would do better selling parts on ebay, as opposed to doing complete bikes, but that one is nice. I hope it bring the $750 you're looking for.

EDIT;Just made some quick calculations, and yes you are 100% right that based on a $750 price for the whole bike I would be better off parting it out. I will certainly adjust my price.

That frame is beautiful.
Good on you for putting in the work to sell a complete bike. Personally, I wouldn't go to the trouble, unless the bike was built perfectly to begin with and I couldn't bear to part it out (e.g. a 70s track bike with full Campy pista parts). Folks pay up for frames and parts (Campy parts at least) but seem reluctant to pay up for full bikes, especially if the parts aren't all matchy matchy.
But who knows with ebay... I've seen a mint Eisentraut road frame go for less than a Peugot track frame that looked like it was brazed by chimpanzee.

Thanks for your comments, will see if I can get what I want for it, the worst that could happen is that I have to relist it and part it out. I probably shouln't have gone through all this trouble but I like to build bikes . Italian bike , I'll PM you .

There is no secret Jet , I am pretty sure that around here I am the only one ready to pay that kind of money for that kind of bike. The fact that a Raleigh Professional stayed for sale for over a month at $200 , on a very popular website says it all. The $500 I had to borrow to buy this bike called and said I can't keep it, sorry Cyclotoine .

I can't believe I missed this thread. Gorgeous bikes - and 2 of them!
I finished mine back in January and have been riding it. I love it. This bike came together very easily in terms of fit and is ultra smooth and quite light. I chose to go with a modern build cause I had the parts - but I love how yours are set up.
I took a flyer on the frame - and because they aren't ultra well known, was able to get a smokin' deal. Highly recommend to anyone looking to do a classic build.
