Brooks Imperial Saddle status (shipping etc.)

I'm opening this thread up as a place to keep reviews of the Brooks Imperial
saddle that will be tested by Bike Forum members.
This thread will allow us to have a central location for reviews, and to make it
easier for Andrea_Men (and other Brooks employees?) to read our comments.

This thread will remain stuck for the duration of the evaluation period, or until such time
as Andrea requests it be taken down.

for Andrea: while I plan on blogging my sentiments about the saddle, as much if not more of my opinion and discussion will occur here on bf.net. That's sort of a default for guys like me, seeing as how my corporate firewall won't let me look at blogs but it will let me use forums.

Yay! I'm in! When I get the saddle installed I'll give my impressions here. I have the Narrow. I'll be using it mostly for my daily 25km round trip commute, but I hope to take it along for a tour this summer. I don't know where, I'll be going, but I hope to do a Brittany to Basque country ride.

Thanks again Andrea, I'm pretty excited to be part of the group and I hope to be able to give you some good feed back.

I'm in as well! Many thanks Andrea!

I'm going to start taking notes on my current saddle for comparison purposes.

Thanks Andrea. I'm looking forward to trying this thing out. I'm already planning how to rotate it between 3 bikes this spring and summer. I'm a curmudgeon on the bike and a techweenie off the bike so I'm working up a spreadsheet to go along with the notepad I'm planning to use.

For the record I'm going to baseline against 2 other saddles, a B17 standard that's currently
on my serotta, and a B17 Swallow that's on my Zieleman. If the B17 Imperial Narrow is anything like
the swallow you've got one fine saddle.

I'd suggest that in the review we all baseline against what we currently ride, so maybe a mini review of
your current saddle in your first post? Andrea what do you think?

I didn't get picked for the trial, but I'm probably going to jump on the discounted offer right away. I'm trying to decide between the narrow or regular, though. I currently ride a (very old) B15 - does anyone know how the 17 and 17 narrow would compare to that?

Thank You Andrea! There's a chance it will arrive on my Birthday too.

Reports on the in-saddle effects will be quite detailed. Reports on the apres-ride effects will be a bit less so.

I'm in. Breaking in the Standard B-17 now and definitely noticing the break-in period re those sit bones. Should have a good comparative basis for trying the new B-17 cutout. I'll also be doing a one-on-one comp with the standard length v.short. Can't wait. Thank you Andrea....
I'll get right on it ;-)

YES!!!!

Now I only have to decide which bike to put it on! I'll also be testing it against a brand new standard B/17.

Awesome that I'm in. Thanks!
I'm not sure if it was a mistake that I'm getting the narrow version though. I'm not a small guy (6'3" 205 lbs) but I'll surely test it out if you think it will work!

Thanks again!

Nice Bike!

English steel is a given, but that still makes for a big decision. I have a late 60's Carlton Built, Raleigh Grand Prix I've been waiting to finish, It was going to get a Brooks B5N I picked up.

just by way of information, when we start the actual reviews I'm going to prune all the
"thanks" "wooohooooo!" etc. type posts out to a different thread. I think we should
keep this a fairly on topic thread. ( and that doesn't mean don't post here for now)
but for now Congrats to everyone selected for the test!

redneck - My Gran Sports has a nice little Carlton sticked on the seat tube and is actually one of the only original decals that was not completely scrubbed / worn away.

I am really thinking of having a very talented lady here do some hand lettering when the frame is re-done.

I so can't wait for the new saddle to arrive... that RMB Velo is an excellent saddle and will likely go on an SS build I am working on.
