any input on this? looking for my fiancee, shes pretyt short (5'4) it'll be her first road bike |
It is probably either a low-end Custom Sport or a mid-grade Kokusai (International), but I cannot tell for sure from the picture provided. An International is arguably worth the ante, but the price seems a little steep for a Custom Sport, which is a boat anchor. If it is an International, it will have aluminum cranks and a CrMo sticker on the frame.
The frame size should be OK for her, unless she is really long in the legs. My wife stands 5'6" and happily rides a 21" = 53.5cm frame. |
That's a friction shifting bike, not index. I would make sure she's OK with friction shifting before you purchase it. Otherwise, the price is within what I'm seeing an older, entry level road bike selling for over here on the other side of the country. My understanding is SanDiego is a fairly hot market. If that's correct, that's a good price.

San Diego is a pretty hot market. That would be bikes, not real estate at least for now.
I miss most of the deals I see on Craigslist. Still, I persist. |

the bike sold too quickly, seems like one cannot dwindle around contemplating the purchase on CL finds lol

Don't worry, soon enough you will know what you are looking at when you see a good deal (at least if you keep reading the threads in this forum!). East Hill |
mullenium,
You're 6'2"? Long in the legs or torso? Check this out; they're sold out except for the 60cm model: http://www.ibexbikes.com/Bikes/CLS-3300-Details.html Standover would be fine for you. If your torso is not super short, you should be able to manage a 59cm toptube fairly well. Only thing about this is that it would require some adjustment on your end once you receive it, and you'd need a few tools, but nothing too specialized. |
