Ultimate Garage Sale?

Ok, so I was browsing CL and happened to find this listing. Is this guy for real?

In the photo I see what looks like a Colnago conversion, a Coppi and a De Rosa. Could he possibly have converted the Coppi and De Rosa (I can't tell if they are track frames or not)?

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/bik/625809796.html

I've got Track Bikes, Conversions, Frames, Forks, Cranks, Peddles, Wheel Sets, bars, saddles, Brooks, Ideale, Campagnolo, Dura Ace, Gippemme, etc, etc.

Let me know,I'm clearing out my garage and I've got the best stuff.

Dont call me if you only have $100

Colnago is a conversion - that is for sure. Rear drops curve too much in back to be reverse-slotted, and there is most obviously a derailer hanger.

Yeah, you can also see the metallic chainstay protector on the Colnago.

I forget who but someone on CR had a huge "yard sale" summer. It could be the same fellow. I think it's a legit collector. I can't detect a hint of bike theft. What would lead you to say that. immaculate classics? Come on. You'd have to break in to houses to steal these bikes and only target VLWs... unlikely.

There have been people collecting classic steel since we were just a glimmer in our daddies eye, I would say it's on the legit.

I stand corrected. It does appear to be a chrome chainstay.

Why are you not posting this from his driveway right now?

It's long been my dream to see anything other than utter garbage at a garage sale.

The seller is from Newport Beach which is an extremely wealthy area of the O.C. I think it's legitimate also.

Haha, I jokingly emailed him about the Colnago conversion and why anyone would ever do such a thing, here is his response:

"I knew someone would catch that.
I had the frame collecting dust and one thing lead to another.
Anyway, don't worry, I have not altered the frame in any way.
It is still a road frame and will soon be a complete road bike. true to its heritage.
Thanks for Looking,
Casey"

Truth

It's too bad I just got back to school in Santa barbara from spring break, I would have definitely stopped by and picked up some parts.

No response to my early AM email! I just sent him another. Did someone on this thread hear from him? I don't work tomorrow and my friend Benjamin wants to check out this sale. Supposed to rain tomorrow.

I don't know if it's a garage sale per se, I think it's more along the lines of you ask him if he has something you're looking for...or you ask him for an itemized list (which I have already with no luck).

My initial email asked if he had a list of items, plus date and time of sale. I sent it last night. It is April Fools Day.

I should just allow this thread to sink into oblivion as the CL posting appears to have been some sort of April Fools Day Prank. Both of my emails went unanswered. Apparently schleven received the sole response unless someone else contacted the seller. I guess it did sound too good to be true.
