Why do I do this?

First I bought a Gitane sight unseen on Craigslist last week. Yes that Gitane bay area locals. I thought it was another Super Corsa. It wasn't, in fact it was the polar opposite in the Gitane line-up but it had some nice campy parts and Gran Compe Centerpulls. I wanted to recoup some of my time and money so I made it into a single speed and threw it on CL for way too much money. Here is where I screwed up: I rode it into work today. Now I'm staring at this bike wanting to leave work and go ride it. Why? I've had a few BS inquiries, or at least they are BS to me as I overly covet this bike. oh, man. what am I to do?

Cancel the CL ad and sort it out.

Cool! I bought those handlebars for a project. I like the way they look on your bike.

On my project bike, I'll have Tektro reverse levers for the brakes. (same as TT levers)

Show that bike off on the SS/FG forum; they'll love it. The red paint looks like blood.

So what model did it end up being?

Those bars came off a POS Sears 3 speed that I bought a few years ago because it had new tires. They are a bit wider than Northroads and have a swoopier bend to them like the old Schwinn travelers did. I like how they look and unfortunately, how they ride. The frame is one of the rare and elusive Grand Sport Deluxe, complete with brazed on kickstand mount. The color is very cool for an urban assault vehicle but the paint job is typical French quality I think the painter OD'd on wine and cheese and the sticker monsiuer probably ate too many freedom fries and was slipping into a trans fat induced coma.

G-

I think you know what to do.

My main ride is a tall-framed, single-speed lugged schwinn with flipped north road bars. I LOVE that bike.

Sweet. The Dark Side claims another victim.... :D

Of all the bikes I have my SS that has cost me a lofty $120 to put together probably puts more grins on my face than any other bike I've got for shear fun. Part of it is the grins/buck but she performs great in pure terms as well.

The ss/fg guys don't seem to dig it too much. they were more interested in my station wagon.
