Easthill delivers the mixte

Had a really nice visit with Easthill today as she delivered the mixte. My wife is thrilled and we got an added surprise when Caterham showed up with his De Rosa (I want one now) anyway it was great and many thanks to Easthill and to Bigbossman for the great frame its gonna be sweet http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...3/100_1635.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...3/100_1638.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...3/100_1637.jpg

I should mention that I came over direct from riding 61 miles in the Daffodil Classic! What a great way to accomplish a nice full day :D .

What BF is all about. Great day.

There's still a 47cm Centurion lady's mixte on eBay.

Cool frame! Great pics too!

bigbossman 04-13-08 10:49 PM

Glad you're satisfied with the frame-set! A little credit where credit is due..... BlankCrows originally found the frame - that boy has an eye for digging through junk and coming up with the goods. Must be the keen eye of the crow, always on the lookout. :D

He lacks the tools and stand to build up a frame, so it came to be in my possession. Because I was lacking a fork I set it aside for the time being, and a beat-up donor ladies Schwinn World Sport landed on my doorstep a scant week before you made your desires known. Turns out, the fork on the Schwinn was a perfect size match for the frame, and since you were going to powdercoat the whole thing anyway I transfered the headset and fork over to the Univega.

I'm happy it found a good home, and I really can't wait to see the build progress. what color are you going to powdercoat it?

Looks to be a perfect fit!

Community colaboration and generosity can't be beat! Hey I preached about that yesterday!

stevesurf 04-14-08 04:04 AM

It's nice to see bike forums generosity from coast to coast. The Univega's almost Seahawk's colors as a bonus (you'll have to make the fork green) :D

stringbreaker 04-14-08 06:34 AM

BBM Its going to be a shade of green that I don't know if it even exists. My wife sews and quilts and embroiders (her main obsession) she has a spool of thread in a shade of green she tells me "thats the color I want" Or as close as we can get, so we are going to make the rounds of the local powdercoat shops and see what we can come up with. That and the hopefully pink saddle if it fits her and the pink cable housing I have scored will set this bike off like the 4th of July we think. Pictures as things develop

You're letting the woman specify the color and shade? By the time you're done, there won't be a powder coater within a fifty mile radius who will be speaking to, or be willing to do business with, you.

Some of you old-timers might recall a movie called "Mister Blandings Builds His Dream House".

Thanks, it's not just me but my four feathered friends' birds-eye views make searching easier when I can get get their attention (They do have a certain passion for semi-dried out french fries found in parking lots.) When I discovered the Univega I knew well enough that a smallish mixte frame belonged with BBM, as he has that rabid Bay Area co-ed clientelle that needs to be satisfied.

Better yet it found a home with a forum member. Stringbreaker, looking forward to how the powdercoat job and the build will turn out!

Ain't no thing at all she knows it might not be the exact color as the spool of thread and if we get close she is fine with that and besides she may find a color she likes better. You bet I'm letting her pick out the color she chose all the color and accessories inside and on the outside of the house, She has a great sense of color and texture, I do the grunt work and she does the decorating so far its working out great. Oh yeah and she isn't prissy or demanding you should have seen her when we were doing all the demo work on the bathrooms and the kitchen. Give her a wrecking bar and get out of the way there will be Lathe and plaster flying everywhere.:)

BlankCrows many thanks its going to be a really nice bike when finished. So far I have a 105 FD and a Crane RD like the one on my volare a nice SR crankset and some new Dia-Compe centerpulls and a NOS set of Dia-compe Brake levers and gum hoods then a nice set of Suntour shifters. I realize its a mish mash of parts but all nice stuff and with a nice Nitto long stem and Nitto Randonneur bars she's gonna be a stunner I think. Will keep you all posted and when I get the frame powdercoated I'll be sure to post the shots.

The great thing is me being able to tie all these great folks together in one big package--we all connect with each other here--so cool!

BlankCrows -> bigbossman -> East Hill - > stringbreaker -> ?

Uh, you may want to rephrase that, BlankCorws, lest Mrs. BBM take exception.

Sadly, the Greater Good demands that I belong to my fans - it is a cross I have to bear.

Hmmm, hey String! she decorates, you do the grunt work, she's handy with a wrecking bar, bathrooms and kitchen.... MEET AND GREET AT MY HOUSE!!!

stringbreaker 04-16-08 08:40 AM

At this point in our almost completed renovation of the money pit I don't think you would be able to afford us
