Graphics Missing for Daimler Puch

I have an old (Mid 80s) Daimler Puch frame I purchased new and built a bike around i purchased about '86 that I would like to restore. the frame is a smoked Chrome finish (Copper color plated) and the decals are dried out and/or missing. Are these available?
It has all Campy components and I am wondering if it has any classic value?

Classic value? You bet. It sounds like you have the Vent Noir ("Black Wind") model, the finish of which has been referred to as "smoked chrome" ... those frames were findable at a couple- or three-hundred bucks not long ago, but the price is rising quickly. There's really nothing like them, as that finish was proprietary to A-D and those bikes were only made for a few years ('76-'79? I'm sure a real A-D expert will chime in on that one ... )

Decals; nobody carries them stock, as Austro-Daimler has been out of the bike business for many years, but you find decal sets on eBay now and again. As an alternative, you can have a set made up custom; there's at least one guy who posts here who's in the business, and I want to say that a decal set will run you $60-$80, but I could be way off on that.

But hey ... forget collector value! Ride that thing. I have an Austro-Daimler Superleicht kitted out with all Dura Ace, and it's my #1 by a mile.

What model is it? It sounds like you might have a later model Austro-Daimler with a Puch headbadge? If it's a Vent Noir II (Campy G.S), Cyclomondo has beautiful decal sets for it here. If it's an Ultima (Campy S.R.) or Ultima SL (BTO), he can get you most of the way, but you'll be missing the 'Ultima' on the top tube. Post photos and perhaps we can help further.

Puch

Thanks for the reply, I never really rode the thing after I built it, it had these sew up, glue on tires and it was a pain in the ass, I had another schwinn that was half the bike with clinchers that I rode as a trainer. The thing just looks cool. I have a gold anodized seat post, headset and crankset on it and it is a good looking bike. As far as riding it, I am pretty spoiled with my carbon fiber frame on my Giant, but I would like to restore it.

Restore it, then ride it! (Or ride it and then decide to restore it and ride some more.) You will be impressed. These are very nice bikes. I've owned my Ultima for many years - it is wonderful. My good friend had one of the early Vent Noir bikes. Very nice ride. Capable of racing or touring. Also, please post some pics!
Best wishes!

Ship to Denver

I just saw this, I can ship it if you cover cost as we discussed via TXT. I am leaving Friday for a 10 day vacation.

Do you know a way we could secure the deal?

I was thinking maybe we could arrange a time where you could post it on ebay for a buy it now price and I could pick it up right away? I guess I am just haveing a hard time letting myself just send out that much cash without something like a paypal insurence.

Nice bike! That "smoked chrome" color is awesome! Definitely going to try and duplicate that paint scheme on a future bike project.
