I went to post some new bike pics to the Track Bikes in Tokyo thread.....and nothing moving.
It seems pretty dumb to close the whole sub-forum instead of just banishing offending posters, but I feel like I missed the commotion. And I digress. A good deal of the bikes I ran into last night on the wya home from the studio are classic and or vintage, so here goes C&V!
A fillet brazed Umezawa. The build is um, candy-contemporary, but the stem and frame is classic IMHO!
Not sure of the make, but this is quite old. I love the double-plate fork crown and old Dia Compe stem.
This Nambei is of 1980 vintage. And I really like the color scheme and build.
I'll skip the decidedly non-classic or vintage purple Vivalo and silver Panasonic, and close with a shot of the slightly modern bar set up I am currently running on my classic 1982 Venus.

The first and last ones would have to be two of the most hideous examples of bicycles I've come across yet. The Umezawa is so damn ugly. Everything about it - the stem/bars, single aerospoke wheel, the paint - is just awful.
The last one, well, the mish-mash of stem/bars/lever/grips just looks like it was constructed for the apocalypse.
Also, tell the rider of the Nambei to 1) turn the bars down a bit and/or 2) get a bigger bike
No wonder you couldn't post them in the other thread over at SSFG - people already knew how much their eyes would hurt.

The paint on the Umezawa is not bad at all. If it were built RIGHT, without the top tube pad, aerospoke in front, and BMX bars, it would be quite a classy bike.

I like to slap bumper stickers on my oil painting collection to pump up the art with a punchy message. I prefer potato chips to round out my finest vintage wines. I like my political and philosophic discussions punctuated with vulgarities, blasphemy, and falsehoods.
But there's something about those bikes I just don't like.

hehe. sorry if I riled anyone up, or caused too many tears
but yeah, the "classic vs clown-bike" ratio on the Umezawa is unfortunately pretty skewed.
...and the blue is super pretty.
.....and the Venus, well, she goes through phases!

To borrow some SSFG language, SF look makes the baby Jesus cry. There are some nice frames there though. We can counsel you through making them look presentable, if you like

Yer a brave dude for posting here!
Another vote for the blue bike. At least the Uhmagumma-whatever is easy to find in a crowd. Not what I'd do, but I'm always interested in seeing what is out there. Don't be a stranger.

Some very nice frames with some unusual component choices.
The Nambei was obviously set up to follow the rule that the more seat to bar drop makes the bike better, but I couldn't imagine trying to ride it, even if I rode fixed.
Thanks for sharing the pics.

haha---thanks. I think?!
Usually I like having a front a front brake, and I don't want to drill the fork (send me another and I might switch it out though!) But here is the Venus in no-brakes and tubulars mode (albeit still with the early 90s mtb-land 3D purple post):
....its true the fixed gear/track bikes tend toward hyper-color. But I'll be on the look out for some more staid, er, classic rides for y'all. And the Venus, well, she'll do what she wants! (though I feel another drop-bar phase coming on).

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
You have some really nice bikes and I look forward to you getting into a drop bar phase as flat bars and chunky grips on track bikes are just... well.. not my thing.
That blue mystery frame is gorgeous, especially the fork crown.
