how hard are these to come by?
I've got some ye-olde avocet shoes that attach to some ye-olde pedals, only I'm lacking the pedals.
I guess they have some sort of washboard ridges to accept the same things on the bottom of the shoes, but ebay searchings have turned up no pedals. Are the pedals made by Avocet? Are they impossible to find nowadays?

They were designed to be used with standard quill pedals.
Those were first cycling shoes I had and I absolutely loved them. Wish I could come across an NOS pair in my size.

I concur on all counts. Great shoes! I still have road quill pedals with clips and straps on all of my bikes.

I have a pair of those, only mine are all grey. I would love to find another pair, as mine are getting worn. They work with standard quill pedals and clips.

I too had a pair. They were fine.
Do not tour with them in rainy climes. It took months for my feet to lose the black border that bled through.

I have a pair that's older than some coworkers (28 years). I restored a 1982 Trek with toe clips last week and wore the avocet shoes to ride the bike.

FYI you can get a new pair of MKS road quill pedals for $29. They're good pedals. Clips and straps are extra, of course.
