Top tube dents

Found an '86 Specialized Allez (3Rensho-built Prestige tubing), my size, full dura-ace except the Campy cranks. Top tube has a nickel-sized dent on the right side froma very hard handle-bar hit. Doesn't need paint. Otherwize, the bike seems straight (tracks fine when ridden) and is in very good condition.

Can this even be fixed? Sorry, no pictures (wasn't thinking). The price is, well, attractive; especially if the dent could be remedied.

Fixed is a relative term. Most top tube dents are just cosmetic issues and I could simply be filled and painted. I doubt you could actually eliminate the dent since methods like suction cups or dent pullers used in the automotive industry won't be applicable to the thin curved tubing on a bike.

Search the archive for threads on dent repair. There are some descriptions of using two halves of a form with the tube's diameter. Clamp it over the dent and rotate to force out the dent. But I think the paint will be damaged and require a repaint.

My powdercoater suggested JB Weld to fill right before powdercoating.
