here are some nice pics of a super aa i recently purchased. they do seem rare i think i have only seen evidence of about 3 or 4 bikes with the super aa badging,

i think it has been resprayed quality of paint isn't too hot chipping and yellow primer can be seen underneath but the frame is stunning to ride so the stickers may well be fakes as they are pretty easy to pick up on ebay but it is an unusual looking frame

nice lo pro position to it have built it up currently as a fixed gear machine with a selection of campy / shimano / old bits. would like eventually to get it built up with nicer bits campy record i guess

the bottom bracket is a gazelle authentic bb, however i thought they used cinelli on their top end frames

I bought one in 1982 and have ridden it in races for 5 years. Even then I never saw somebody with the same frame.

I still own it and I just sent it out to have it repainted in its original colors because it is still a very nice bike to ride. I have it repainted because the paint was damaged too much, but it has no dents. So after repaint it will look like new again. Now I am going to use as my bad weather bike.

It actually handles much better than my 2008 BMC SLC01 because of the short wheel base. The bracket is also slightly higher than normal to allow you to continue pushing the pedals in a corner.

I'll post a few photo's when I've put it back together again.

As someone past (long past) the racing stage and much more interesting in the pleasure of riding, how would a Gazelle CM AA-Special be as a general rider?

Would this be like using a Ferrari to get groceries? I've been offered such a frame. While it may beyond my "needs", I'm wondering if I'd still like it as a old-guy rider?

Mine above is set up single speed (with flip-flop hub so I can go fixed). It is an absolute pleasure to ride as I have it set up. It just feels great. And I bought it because a mate had one similar and he just said it was the best all-round bike he had (and he has lots of bikes). Mine feels very nippy, and (whilst you would not want to do it) actually feels like you could throw it around like a little mountain bike.

I suspect it would be more lke owning a bottom of the range diesel Volkswagen Golf and a top of the range Golf GTI. When you took the GTI (the AA Special) to get the groceries you would know you could have taken the diesel, but you wouldn't regret having taken the better car!
