I can't wait to see the completed bike. I'd also be interested in the final build cost tally, should you care to share.

Is that a stolen Bianchi I see in the background?

For reference, this was the donor bike for your fork - a nice 4130 cromoly Schwinn that was too far gone to be worth salvaging at any kind of profit. It's death gave others a chance at life though - you've got the fork and headset, the BB and crank set went with one flip bike, the wheels with another, the dérailleurs with yet another, and the stem/bars/shifters/brakes are slated to go on a mixte frame set I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

Mrs. Stringbreaker is 5'2" and I think EH tops out at 4' 11" but they are both rather diminutive for sure

BBM looks like the bikes gonna come in at close to $400.00 by the time its all said and done. Just a rough guesstimate on my part I really don't keep track of a lot of this stuff unless I'm going to sell it then I do. I started to assemble the bike this evening I got the fork on it and the rear brake and front and rear derailleur and the crankset. I need to take it to Brian at Trailside in Orting and have him tighten the BB and the crank bolts since I don't have all the bottom bracket tools to do that. Oh yeah I talked to the lady that had her Bianchi stolen and she bought it new in Baltimore so I'm good. Oh yeah I ordered the barcons for it and also the brake levers. I got linear pull breaks for it so it was either buy the special brake levers or I could have used regular bars and used a travel agent but the ones I saw were about 25 bucks and I got the levers for under 30 bucks so I figured that was a better deal and they look a lot more sanitary.

Great powdercoat job!

BTW, there is someone over in the Northwest Forum looking for a recommendation for a powdercoat place in Western Wa.

Which was were? Sorry, I didn't see any earlier thread about this, if there was one. Would love to know who did it, the price seems pretty reasonable.

Very nice looking powder coat job from what we can see from the picks.

Hey, I have a question about powder-coating bikes. What do you use for touch-up paint? Can the powder coat fellow give you a small bottle of touch up paint that matches or are you hosed if you chip/scratch it?

Trick of the angle--Mrs. Stringbreaker is actually a couple of inches taller than I am. I was pleased to look taller, though .
