Old Steyr questions

I have come across an old Steyr bicycle in the corner of the shop where I work. It is rather dusty, but in otherwise decent condition. Any one have any information on this old stead. I searched on Google for any information and nothing came up that was very promising. Any information would be greatly appreciated. This bike is to cool to remain dusty, I would like to resurrect it.

Steyer is a large Austrian conglomerate, part of the larger company Steyer Daimler-Puch. They make everything from farm machinery, military vehicles, mopeds, etc., etc.
Probably it's old (>25 years old). I doubt they still make bikes, but maybe a European member would know better.

I believe Steyr only makes firearms these days. They have a website: steyr.as (I think!).

There is also a cool Dutch website called Tom's Steyr Page (with thumbnail photos) which is for Steyr motor vehicle fans and has a brief history of Steyr translated into English.

Factoid (if anybody out there cares!)

Kettering, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton where I live, is the Sister City of Steyr, Austria.

I'll bet Ah-nold, the new Gov. of California, knows something about Steyr. Someone should ask him about it!

Steyr also makes air-cooled diesel engines.

Steyr Daimler Puch was an Company witch was foundet 1886 in Graz Austria. The Company produced Bikes, Motorcycles, Cars,Military Trucks, 4 Wheel drive and Firearm`s. The Bicycle Production stopped 1987 and was sold. The Car Production was taken over by Mercedes and later by Magna. They producing still fire arm`s witch are sold also in the US (Model: Glock) In the bike production the name Puch and Steyr Puch was used for the European Marked. For the US Market the Name Austro Daimler (AD) was used. The US Model`s are simmilar to the European´s but some had an more exclusive configuration.
All the bikes are in good quality and are treasured.
Regards from Austria

Before the AustroDaimler marque was adopted in the 1970s, many Steyr-labeled bikes, and a number of Puchs, were exported to the U.S. Steyr probably sold even more bikes under the Sears label.

steyr mannlicher is the gun maker

they make high quality rifles as well as some pistols

the only connection to glock is the fact they hired away one of the big glock engineers to design their m and s series guns (IIRC)

they are similar to glocks but have a garand type safety and funky triangular sites.

owned both type of guns in the past...but prefer hk and sig

i have no idea if steyr is connected to the bike maker...i do know that bmw owned the building the steyr plant was in and they had to relocate after bmw expanded into it

Clubman

the model of the bike is the clubman, it is orange, with a simplex derailleur and shifters on the stem. and the fool who left it there rotated the handlebars up 'Chicago style', sad but what are you going to do?

The Clubman was Steyr's basic 10-speed, roughly equivalent to the Peugeot AO-8.
