Help!

Thank you.

Since yours is the same but needs work and he is a friend and it's not a gold mine or anything but still too nice to be given to a "kid" who will not care for it properly. If you are confident he will care for it properly than sell it too him. I think $100 is fair. You could part it out on ebay for way more of course, but your situation is different.

anybody think that Bertin shown in the link looks older than the claimed 1980 date? Notice the stamp on the dropout: 197_
Interesting bike though and some out-of-the-ordinary French components, too. I think a Bertin "just like this" would be sort of inappropriate for a novice rider, but then I don't know this kid, either. Reminds me a little of my very first 10-speed (a low-grade Libertas that got stolen within 6 months) so maybe I'm off base being skeptical of what a kid will value and care for. I agree that $100 for a friend seems a fair deal.

$3.50, without photos of your exact example. It may be identical to the model shown at Bikeworks, and then again, it might be similar but not identical (which could mean a lower-end - or higher-end - model).

Is this a close friend, or an acquaintance? Does he understand that this is a classic, and that is specifically why he wants it for his kid, or is he just looking for any older, inexpensive road bike for his kid?

The answers to those questions are what my decision would be based on.

Thanks for the help. If you guys think $100 is fair (except cudak888) I'll sell it for $75. I'm not trying to get rich but I didn't save it for 20 years for nothing.
Thanks, Petey.

Be certain the bicycle fits reasonably well before you sell it. If it doesn't fit, it will be less likely to be ridden and cared for.
