1990 Daccordi

I posted this in the road forum but I'm such a hoare for attention, I thought I'd post it here too. Its a long weekend and I'm on my own...time to do bike things.

I finished this project a few months ago and am really happy with the results.

1990 Daccordi 50th Anniversary Frame - Columbus SLX
2006 Campy Centaur Group
Ksyrium SSC SL Wheels.

Rides real nice...real nice.

Killer bike, but you already knew that.

Where do these minty 50th Ann. D'Accordis keep pooping up? Someone on another forum has two! I'm a little envious.

I drool....

Hey Rad, whats the Campy headset model? I have a similar one on my Pinarello Gavia, but I have no idea what model it is.

C-Record I believe. Dang Campy makes it tough sometimes for us (relative) noobs to identify their stuff.

I like your style of modern and vintage. I hate to burst your bubble but the road forum is a crass consumer oriented mass produced bike cult.

Please don't join the dark side ever. Oh I take that back. You sinner...Get those damn brifters off and put the downtube shifters back on.

Hee hee....you'll be happy to know that my Trek - the '03 5500 in my sig below - now is sportin' DA 10 speed DT shifters.

My Fuso recently got the notorious Campy Synchro DT shifters - and they work well. My Vetta has DA 8 DT's. Even the Waterford 2200 has DA 9 DT's. The Pinarello has Campy 6 DT's.

So I haven't gone completely to the darkside.

It's certainly a C-rec era. But you are right, with the way campy trickled down designs through the years what was Record may be Veloce 5 years later. And with headsets, it's sure hard to tell the difference from any distance.

Beautiful ride, I love the mix of old steel and modern parts. Was out on my Serotta yesterday on the club ride. Other than trying to figure out where a stray noise was coming from it rode like a dream. (noise most likely the rear hub, need to service that this weekend, that or it was the loose headset, which as already been fixed)

Wow really sweet bike. I like the brifters. Lp

Been wanting to get some colored cable housing, very nice touch.
I scored a pinarello like the one you have recently. Not even remotely my size. but spectacularly beautiful. Literally, the most beautiful frame I have ever seen.
Only problem: How could so much craftsmanship go into the thing, and they use adhesive stickers for the decals!?!?

mainducoyote 05-25-08 07:55 PM

Very nice bike !

That's a secret ;) Seriously It is pure luck that I came to have two of those ...

These are beautiful bikes. But it does bring up a little story from a fellow I work with. In the early 80s working in a shop in Austria Daccordi was among the brands they carried. he was once installing a DO adjusted and the threads had not been chased post chroming. Now I don't know if that is something that should be done, but anyway.... the adjuster reached that tight point and SNAP off it came in the DO, returned the frame. This was a new bike he was building. For comparison he has nothing but gushing enthusiasm for how perfect every merckx frame that came out of the box was. Just a little tidbit for y'all.
