8 speed Campy Upgrade Options

I have an 8-speed Campy bike and three wheelsets. With cranks (ones I got ebay are worse than my current set) and parts becoming rarer and unavailable, I would like to upgrade my drive train, but that means I have to upgrade my wheels as well.

My question is if it is possible to replace the free hub body or axle on the wheels and put in a 9 or 10 speed compatible hub. BTW all my rear wheels have record hubs.

I am not tied to campy and if it is even possible to use Shimano hubs, I am open to it. Rebuilding 3 rear wheels is just too costly I think (Reflex, old Zipp and Shamal)

Thanks in advance!

Yes it's possible and I've done it. However you possibly will have to change the axle as well: there is a stop for the freehub on it (and a non adjustable cone too).
