Weinmann Brake Question
Just curious, but what era and model is this brake? Kinda looks like an attempt at a cantilever without having to put studs on the forks and stays....

I have a couple of sets of those Weinmann brakes, and like them a lot--much less mushy than regular centerpulls. The first sighting of them I've found is in a 1984 Motobecane catalog:

Don't know but I have a set on my '83 Galaxy, not sure if they are original or not, and I find them to be slightly flexy under hard braking, but they do the job

i jam my thumbs up and back into the tubes. this way i can point my fingers straight out in front to split the wind and attain an even more aero profile, and the usual fixed gear - zen - connectedness feeling through the drivetrain is multiplied ten fold because my thumbs become one with the tubing.

Disraeli Gears
The pin-connected bars take the straddle cable flex and springback out of the brake-actuation movement. There's a roller-equipped hook that does something similar, and uses the straddle cables; but probably not so efficiently.

I have a set that came off a Motobecane Grand Touring that was identical to the one in the catalog scan. With Kool Stop pads, they are much better stoppers than the regular Weinmann/Dia Comp center pulls I have on some other bikes.
